Attendances

Looked very low today on tv. Does anyone know the figure ? Looked to be a lot of empty seats last time I was on too. Doubt it will improve for Leicester. Must be a concern for the Chairman.

Not been able to find the gate figure anywhere as yet. There will certainly be more on against Leicester but may only be 16000 or so given our abject performances recently and the Covid effect.

Let's be fair it will DEFINITELY improve dramatically for Leicester, but your point about today is valid. Utterly awful attendance.

Pathetic attendance. Huddersfield fans made any noise there was. You just wonder if some of our fans deserve a team in the Premier League - for now. Have to admit we were dreadful today but we had our best three players absent and Wood was missed after half time.

Does anyone know if Huddersfield played a weakened team? If not our first eleven is much better than them.

The league attendances have been very low this season, nothing like the numbers we'd become used to. And that's not because of the results because the opening day attendance against Brighton was the second lowest ever in the Premier League.

No idea how many on today but it will have been boosted by the Huddersfield fans.

Very sparse home attendance but fair play to Huddersfield Town fans, they packed their side of the Cricket Field stand.

Huddersfield made 7 changes to the team who played their last league game.

I actually started counting the crowd in the second half as I was utterly bored, but refused to take my shoes and socks off when it got to 11. My "guess the gate" is 19 (home) and 2,000 away.

Well yes and no. The Leicester game is highly likely to be called off and covid will be blamed, BUT Leicester have an ever lengthening injury list (including Evans and Vardy) and 4 players at the ACN, so they look set to be the latest opponent to play the "pandemic" card!

Home support down by thousands in the league, supporters clubs who used to run full coaches struggling to fill one, very worrying times, especially from a financial viewpoint.

I've said on many occasions though, even before Covid there were many people around me who weren't planning on renewing due to the lack of entertainment and excitement. This seems to have been replicated throughout the stadium, hence the 3-4 thousand missing people we now have..

attendances are down because the football on show from us is most weeks uninspiring. People go to football for a number of reasons, many go as an escape from the mundane...........and that's where the issue is

People expect a level of entertainment. Whilst I’ll be renewing come what may, I can certainly appreciate why some won’t.

I love going to watch Burnley but it has felt something of a chore on a good number of occasions.

Agree Vegas. People put up with our style while it’s getting results, but now it’s not they are voting with their feet.

Think it’s pretty clear how bored some are with the style of football, lack of excitement and attitude towards cups. A mate of mine who has a season ticket said he couldn’t be paid to go on today.

Certainly not the case with Accy Clarets - Newcastle 3 coaches + minibus / Villa 3 coaches / Man Utd 4 coaches + minibus / Leeds 4 coaches + 2 minibuses.

Hit the nail on the head perfectly. Football is a stress relief for me, away from a hard job.

Many many games now, I've found myself stood there thinking why the hell have I rushed here straight from work for this.

As a claret for over 40 years I don't expect to win every week, but I expect entertainment. Apart from a small handful of games over the last few seasons there just hasn't been any, it's either been totally one sided games for the opposition, or it's been us playing awful long ball football trying to scrape a 1 0..

It's a fair point, and only way to tell would be to find the Huddersfield attendance and deduct it from the overall.

That's great for Accy Clarets, but those games listed are the most popular away games and were very important fixtures in the first half of the season.

We didn't even take the full allocation at OT, as we don't now at the vast majority of away games.

We both know away support is dropping along with the home support.

My mate who is a big Wigan fan said eventually you will get bored of the Premier League and scraping enough points to survive and realise you are only there to make up the numbers. He said a least they had an FA Cup win to remember but he has enjoyed the last few years more the ups and downs and I am feeling the same.

There was the excitement when we were in the lower leagues drawing a big team away in a cup now cups are viewed by many as an hindrance to staying in the league.

As for the football I can see why we have to play the way we do with the players we have at our disposal to get the results but that doesn’t make it any more exciting. I know a few who only renewed because they had “Pre Paid” this year’s ST and are not renewing next year.

The issue with that type of thinking has to surely be "what's the pont". As in, the good times yield going into the Premier League. With success comes promotion, that's what makes things fun and exciting.

That’s the big point with people saying they miss the championship. Get relegated then everything is all about getting back in to the PL. We’re the new Stoke.

The difference to me between us now in the Prem and if we are in the Championship is what we have to attain to have a successful season, most people will agree that success for us in the Prem is 17th and above and to achieve that you need around 35pts so 9 wins and 8 draws can do it so we are aiming to win around 1/4 of our games. Whereas in the Championship a successful season would be playoffs or promotion and to get in the playoffs you need on average 70 odd points meaning around 23 wins and a sprinkling of draws so we would have to win around 1/2 of our matches so to me I would rather watch a team go out for the win rather than avoid defeat.

We have punched well above our weight per capita for attendances and still do. That is very hard to maintain over a long period of time. Our fanbase has been miraculous with the percentage of the town going to matches if you think about it but life moves on and there are a lot more things you could be doing now and especially when the football that is on offer, even when we are doing well, is mind-numbing!

Burnley fans these days, are also like the 'prawn sandwich brigade' (all be it Aldi or Lidl prawns) and have lost something. They have become comfortable! 30 years ago, the fans would have made SD's life a misery and drove him out by now... We don't have anywhere near the same passion we had, even from 15, 20 years ago.
