It's all well and good saying the fans need to get behind the players, and I agree we do, but we need something from them to do that.

Obviously performances bring back the atmosphere but I think moving forward decreasing the capacity will bring back an element of intimacy that has been lacking. It’s no secret that the current capacity is too big for our support.

The current capacity isn’t too big. It’s just that the standard of football being served up doesn’t entice casual supporters onto the Turf. If we were top of the Championship the ground would be almost full.

How do you suggest reducing the capacity? The only feasible way is to close tiers.

Closing the lower tiers means fans in the upper tiers, being further away from the field and less "intimate"
Closing the upper tiers means fans are in the "less appealing" lower tiers

IT's not too big for the support, pre-covid it was about right. The reason the attendances are lower this season are multifactorial, including people "playing safe", the restrictions/rules in attending, as well as the quality of football being played

Its two way-show some fight and passion on the pitch and the crowd will respond. We were on a dreadful run a few years ago and I came up for a night game mid week v Liverpool. We were in their faces and fighting for each ball from the first minute and the atmosphere was incredible. We lost 3-1 but I left happy believing we would start a winning run from the next game

Agree with this.

Some of the best atmospheres at the Turf have been when we are giving our all on the pitch whether winning or losing at the time.

The obvious thing to do would be to bring back Owen Coyle as the atmosphere was always great when he was in charge. Even when he came to the Turf as Bolton manager the atmosphere picked up and was a lot better

Good point, in fact I reckon he could still do a job up front.I'm assuming he's a free agent ?

Considering the amount of money/redevelopment that has been spent on it recently I can’t see that happening soon

Give the entire cricket field stand to the home supporters and move the away fans. Stick em in the Bob Lord stand if they can't go anywhere else.

Our most atmospheric stand is currently 2/3 occupied by visiting fans..

i think there some validity in making some fan offers similar to £10.

Im a season ticker holder and i wouldn't be bothered about these offers, id rather we got as many on as possible, might even raise the team performance.

I like you Steve wouldn’t be bothered if they let people in for a tenner to generate some atmosphere. The club could incentivise casual supporters by offering the next three games at that price and then £20 per match thereafter until the end of the season. We season ticket holders have had a good deal for years so no reason to moan in our hour of need. Let’s get the ground full.

Agree..as a ST holder I enjoy it much more when the ground is full. Bitching because some people get a cheaper price in the short term would just be sad.

I'd love a sell-out for the next few games (limit adults to £20, tenner for others etc.) but don't think the atmosphere has been too bad for our last few home league games. I think the Huddersfield and Leeds games have clouded a few memories.

It's not long since we scored 3 against Palace and got a decent draw against a good West Ham team and the atmosphere then wasn't too bad. Though as much as I hate it, I'd be happy for the club to bring out the happy clappers and flags for a bit, see if it builds things up.

There is a slight problem with this suggestion. There are probably more season ticket holders in relation to the capacity of the stand in the Bob Lord than anywhere else in the ground. If we wanted to displace/relocate these supporters we could potentially lose a lot of supporters. Additionally where would the directors sit?
I’m a season ticket holder in the Bob Lord and I sit in there for a reason. Because its the best stand in my opinion.

Nobody else seems to want to sit there

Just for info purposes, a friend of mine (Leeds fan) said our support at theirs recently was the best he’s heard all season,even though we were rubbish on the pitch the fans never stopped singing. We’ll done to all those at the game.

Give us something to shout about and we'll shout.

No point expecting us to cheer dross and half hearted attempts by some players,
coupled with blind faith in a system and formation that doesn't always work.

On the whole our away support is very vocal. It’s on the Turf where the atmosphere is lacking.

In the dark days of division 4 some of the best atmospheres was watching the ball roll down the Bob Lord roof hopefully hitting an unsuspecting linesman or manager etc on the head,brightened up many a dull game. Fast forward 35 years and let's get the same excited roar going when an unsuspecting Chris Wood or Barnes etc gets hit on the head by the ball from a height similar to the ball dropping of the Bob Lord roof,by our decisive forward play by our much sought after centre halves.

We fly our flag on our allotment and it needs replacing so let's have some more flags please

With the exception of lower Jimmy Mac stand , the ground is relatively “ full” on match Saturdays . When we start improving the atmosphere cranks up end of really . Cornet gave the place a buzz and you just know if we’re fighting hard vs Leica the fans will redound in kind

I mentioned above the players can help. However this is a project for the owners who should have the ability and ideas to get more on the Turf. I have to say premium pricing certain seats does not work when the club has won one in 25. These are great initiatives when the team is performing well and the amount of spare seats is diminishing. I am not a ST holder and can always get seats ONLINE. However I avoid the "premium seats"despite a better view from these seats. Incentives for the walk ins are necessary. Maybe a points system where if you buy tickets for 3 home games you get the 4th game free

I think as many have said, the team need to give us something to shout about, but I also think when the CFS started housing home fans again, a lot of the "singing section" from the longside moved in to the CFS, which then had a knock on effect to getting everyone going in the largest stand being the longside.

This comes up whenever we're on a bad run. Win some games and the atmosphere is fine. It was good against Brentford not so long ago.

You can have all the cheap tickets, scarves, drums or whatever.. if you're watching another defeat on the way to relegation, it's going to be flat. Same everywhere you go, it's not a Burnley thing.

There seems to have been the usual gross over exaggeration to what was a typically dire Dyche era cup performance. We’ve not lost an EPL game at the Turf since September and have 4 home games in hand on Watford and 3 on Newcastle. Can’t remember much wrong with the atmosphere against Brentford, Palace or West Ham. Why all the defeatist claptrap?

What seems better to you, a 21k stadium with 15-16k in with empty seats or a 16k-17k stadium packed house?

We should consider the same size capacity as Brentford’s new one, 18k I think. When I’ve seen them on TV there’s been a cracking intimate atmosphere and the tightly packed crowd gives better vibes.

It would help if there was a larger range of songs for the fans in the CFS to sing. In our 4th division days from my time on the long side Selwyn and his mates sang a wider range.

Yeah fair point I’m more referring to just having a full ground regardless, not necessarily Brentford. Even during good seasons we were only close to selling out v United City etc. Also in the Championship I think the largest attendances were around 18k even at the top of the league.
