Random acts of kindness
What a nice feeling it is when you help out a complete stranger, who’s having a really bad day.
Our land extends down t the M6 between junctions 18 and 19 on the M6 in Cheshire. If you know it, it’s a notoriously busy and troublesome section of that motorway. It’s also a smart motorway with lay-bys rather than a hard shoulder.
We have a lay-bay right adjacent to our land.
In the past week I’ve seen folk stranded in the lay-by and gone down to them on my quad and checked they were okay.
One guy had run out of fuel, so I took him to the petrol station. Today another guy had a blow-out in his van and his jack had snapped, so I brought him my trolly jack and he was sorted in 10 minutes.
In the past we’ve ignored folk stranded in that lay-by….but from now on I’m going to keep an eye out and regularly check that folk are okay.
It’s no big deal for me, but it’s nice to help out people who are up ****-creek!

Re: Random acts of kindness
Have you got a couple of £billion to help Burnley FC out?

Fair enough. Why not help someone and feel good for it.

Brilliant that enduroclaret, we’ll done for doing such sterling work in your own free time. It’s refreshing to hear that there are kind people out there.

Re: Random acts of kindness
Saw some poor fella running towards the stop whilst desperately trying to flag down a bus in Newcastle last night. It was cold and he looked a bit troubled by the situation so I pulled in and offered to give him a lift a coupe of stops up and drop him in front of the bus.
He refused my offer without so much as a thanks anyway.

Re: Random acts of kindness
Many years ago I was waiting at junction 17 for my usual Accy lift. The coach went past and missed me. “We’ve pretended we’ve broken down, but you’ll have to come down the slip road and join up with us”. Motorway slip roads are long with deep banking, and it took me 5 mins ( with inhaler ) to reach the so called stranded coach. Needles to say my pack up burst on the run down and there was pies and butties all over the slip road. Never forgotten.

It's a tricky one giving lifts to complete strangers. There's always a risk involved either way.what_no_pies wrote: ↑Wed Jan 12, 2022 10:34 pmSaw some poor fella running towards the stop whilst desperately trying to flag down a bus in Newcastle last night. I was on a platform at Earl's Court tube station where you can get trains from different lines (Piccadilly, District) stopping. A train stopped and there was this blind fellow so I asked him where he was going. Instead of saying 'Richmond' etc.. I got told to mind my own f.... business. I walked away. I suppose I should have just told him what line the train was running on but f... him! I hope he's still there waiting.

Go to London, I guarantee you'll either be mugged or not appreciated. Catch the train to London, stopping at Rejection, Disappointment, Backstabbing Central and Shattered Dreams Parkway

Strange that. I've been to London many times and had or seen no problems at all.
