Both fielding strong sides considering they supposedly don't care about the CC.

Xhaka sent off for Arsenal, it might be a new year, but some things never change, same old Arsenal always cheating. :)

Shows that there is a certain bias towards some players.

Harry Kane gets off for those type of challenges.

as last man I don't think Oliver had much choice on this occasion, he probably would have given a free-kick to Kane though

True! but it once again highlights how extraordinary Burnley's recent disciplinary record really is, especially regarding the red cards, or rather the lack of.

Difficult to get a red card when you chase shadows for 90 mins ;) haha

Trust you to find a negative in us not having a sending off for over a 100 games now I believe.

I said on an old thread that Arsenal aren't dirty, they are just rank at defending. They get caught out of position, lose their man, which results in them having to foul players to make up for the original error. How could you compare them to Adams and his team, who were all top of the game defenders.
The price you pay trying to fit players into a defence, because they can play out from the back.

Cracking disciplinary record, Arsenal. Xhaka likes an early bath (shower, in reality).

That's a shame, he could have been sent off against us again, or passed it against our player into an open net.

Since his debut season with Arsenal in 2016-17, no Premier League player has been sent off more times in all competitions than Granit Xhaka (5)

Surely will be a 3 game ban which is Tottenham, Liverpool and us.

Before seeing the number I would have guessed 8 or 9 sending offs, surprised it is as low as 5.

Not sure but I always thought straight reds were a 3 match ban, TBH I don't know if it helps or hinders is if he misses our game at The Emirates.

I think Xakha needed to get back into the dressing room and make sure no-one found his stash of Midget Gems and confiscated them

Yes that felt low to me as well, but I've no reason to query it.

Only a 3 game ban for violent conduct or serious foul play.

Denying a goalscoring opportunity is one game, but this is Xhaka's second of the season so he'll get an extra game.

Oh! good that means he might get an unwanted HT against us then. :)

Since when does a red card in an EFL league cup game apply in the Premier League ?

Yellow cards only count to the competition you're playing it in terms of them tallying up.

But for red cards they count across all competitions.

It almost always has. I think there were one or two seasons that it didn't 20 odd years ago.

Suppose it will depend on the referee report. Did he get sent off for a dangerous tackle or was it due to being last man?

Liverpool trying to emulate Arsenal by trying to walk the ball in, the amount of times they have had crossing oppertunities and failed to cross in is embarrasing

I await Jurgen's long moan ad nauseam about Arsenal and their tactics etc.,etc.
Watching paint dry was more exciting than watching that game.
No doubt Arsenal will be looking to postpone their PL game at the weekend, injuries, suspensions, international calls, I'm sure that they can manufacture Covid into all of that!
