Re: Burnley XI - September 2018
I made reference in my Leeds report that the team showed just three changes from the one that had lost 4-2 at Fulham in August 2018.
Hart, Ward & Hendrick were the only three who played in that game that didn’t at Leeds.

......like a fine wine
Re: Burnley XI - September 2018
No other club would put up with that. Our recruitment has been down right negligent.

And all 4 no longer at the club, and of that quartet I'd state only Heaton has been adequately replaced, as we're still lacking in RM (Hendrick) CF (Wood) and most glaringly of all CM (Defour).boatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:05 pmBetter players on the bench: Heaton, Hendrick, Wood and Defour, it's not all about recruitment.
I do agree it's not all about recruitment, and if we sign anyone decent in this window I'd like to hope they'll be starting games pretty soon afterwards, we need starters not more benchwarmers if we're to have any chance of getting out of trouble.
Re: Burnley XI - September 2018
How can if not be about recruitment when our starting XI is largely similar to what it was 3 and a half years ago? That’s 3 and a half years older too.
We have stood still in time which in real terms is going backwards.

Clearly about recruitment and we know why now.
Re: Burnley XI - September 2018

Just highlights SD's ability for pulling rabbits out of old cloth caps.
He can't keep doing it.

Re: Burnley XI - September 2018
Whilst I am absolutely adamant our recruitment (or lack of it) has been borderline criminal, there’s definitely something in what you are alluding to here.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 10:05 pmBetter players on the bench: Heaton, Hendrick, Wood and Defour, it's not all about recruitment.
What this DOES show us tho is that in 2018 we had players on the bench (who arguably should have started) who could come on and change the game. We don’t have that now at all and that IS down to recruitment. Having said that we didn’t really have that then either because if wood and defour had started then we’d be in the same boat as we are now. No game changers to bring on.
We may well recruit in the next couple of weeks, but as pointed out earlier in the thread the players coming in need to be starters not benchwarmers.
