Fantastic timeless music.
Some of his songs remind me of places I went as a child. My Auntie used to blast ‘Anything for love’ out in my grandpas clapped out car driving back from Midweek home matches, but I’d clearly remember the route we took over the railway line, up near the Butterfly pub.

Saw Meatloaf at Hammersmith Odeon as it was then. Halfway through the set he was lying down in the wings taking Oxygen from a cylinder while the band "filled"..
I'll probably dig the album out today and give it a spin in tribute to both Meatloaf and Steinman.

Best known for his music (not my bag at all but I can understand why people like it) but his portrayal of “the lizard” in 51st state was most excellent.

Sad news. Meat and Steinman both gone. Brilliant album is bat out of hell, one of the very best of all time. Some of the others not bad either. RIP
I was just thinking that I probably have more songs on my phone by artists or groups where someone is dead rather than alive now. That must be a sign of getting old.

Saw Michael (Marvin) Lee Aday at Monsters of Rock Donnington Park around 30 years ago, not the greatest singer live but hell his studio albums were fantastic ...
He will be "hitting the highway like a battering ram on a silver black phantom bike"

I had the Bat out of Hell album on 8 track in the late seventies. Used to play it to death when driving around in my old Cortina.

It’s a real shame he didn’t record the follow up to Bat out of Hell - with Steinman eventually recording “Bad for Good” himself. It would have been an amazing follow up. I believe the intended album name was Renegade Angel I know he’s recorded some of the songs at a later date but not in his prime

My first concert was Meat Loaf, Manchester Apollo 1984. Theatrical and powerful performance of his well known songs plus the Bad Attitude album. He was a unique artist, incomparable to anyone else and Bat out of Hell remains in the top 10 best selling albums of all time, over 40 years after its release.
RIP Meat and thanks for the music and memories.

I’m genuinely upset by this news. I’ve never been much of a gig type of person and I’ve only ever been to two in my life. The last one was Ed Sheehan at round hay (for my missus that one) but the other one was meatloaf at Manchester arena in 2013. It was rescheduled and it was the last day of the last at bat tour before ‘retiring’. I’m honoured that I got to see him live. R.I.P meat. I will raise a glass for you tonight.

Saw him in Preston years back and he was excellent. Some amazing tunes supplied largely by the late (great) Jim Steinman and he had the voice to do them justice. Not everyone's cup of tea and you can see why, but loads of clever songs which have more depth than might initially be apparent. Sad news, but he'd not been well for quite a while (as they say)

I saw a biopic on him on tv a good few years ago now and one thing made me laugh out loud. He was being interviewed and related a tale about his 14 year old daughter’s first date.
Apparently he was sitting on his porch with a shotgun in his hand. When the young lad taking his daughter out turned up, he just looked at him and said words to the effect, “treat my daughter with respect or I’ll hunt you down and shoot you like a dog”
What a guy

I went into the Prinny after a rather dismal game in the dark days and after a few beers someone put Paradise by the dashboard lights on the jukebox and the whole pub started dancing most bizarre thing I have ever seen, it was brilliant though and the dancers were the sort of people who ....well you know the clientele! Great song, great artist RIP.

Sad news indeed. Like many others on here, Bat Out Of Hell was an album that was played a LOT in my youth.
A true showman and a powerful singer, all the better for never seeming to take himself too seriously.
RIP Meat.
