For any info ahead of game at Crystal Palace other than tickets and coach travel

As the title suggests does anybody have any recommendations for parking re Palace away. I was thinking of stopping at Purley and getting the train to Norwood Junction, I have seen online that "some local schools offer parking" but it's quite vague on what and where they are.

My Palace supporting mate thinks your Purley plan is a good one. It is mostly residential around Palace and parking is a nightmare. Norwood Junction is the station he uses.

It's not a long walk from Croydon tbh. If you don't mind parking there..

A lot depends on which area you’re heading in from. Knowing that might save you getting bad advice and spending time/ wasting fuel unnecessarily. Loads of options on trains from a few miles away in every direction which could save you time and stress. #UTC

I wouldn't try to get close in a car - there are three stations you can use at Norwood Junction (the one we tend to use), Selhurst or Thornton Heath.

I don't know about Purley for parking. We tend to park up in North London and then use public transport.

You need to be aware of the ULEZ if you have an older car. Charges apply if you cross inside the north and south circulars, so pick your route around London carefully. You can check if the ULEZ applies to your vehicle via link: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra- ... ssion-zone

ULEZ was expanded to boundary of north and south circulars October 2021.

Heading down from burnley, was planning on hitting the M25 anti clock wise and then up the M23 to Purley.

Thornton Heath is the other one I was thinking of getting the train into as apparently there's more away friendly pubs on that side than the Norwood Jct side, but Purley has a big 400 space multistory as well as the station car park just made sense to dump the car there.

As Tony said, a good option is a Tube station in North London. I use Finchley Central because it has a huge car park and it’s a quick trip to Kings Cross / St. Pancras for the trains to Palace. Cockfosters is just as easy.

I did think about this but it seemed like it was a long journey from Cockfosters into the centre so thought parking closer would be better.

A lot of the Cockfosters car park has been sold off to build flats. Not sure if the work has started yet but worth bearing in mind for the future.

JustPark is a great app where people offer their parking facilities for a fee. Just had a look and there’s parking available for £3-5 within 15 mins walk. Used the app to park very close to Anfield and Goodison earlier this season. Great value.

Norwood Junction is on the Thameslink line. If you're looking to park somewhere north and get the train I'd be tempted to go with Luton.

I suppose it depends on whether you want to drive around the M25 to head nearer to the ground, or just park up near the bottom of the M1 and use the trains. I’m heading to Finchley Central for the Northern Line to Kings Cross. Pint or two in The Dolphin on Tonbridge Street, then train to Norwood.

Whichever way you go, have a safe trip, #UTC

I'm heading for Finchley Central too, seems the best option. Thanks to all for suggestions, hopefully coming back with 3 points.

Any suggestions for decent pubs near the ground?

We used to go to the Spoons near Norwood Junction but that's closed now. Last time round we went to the Prince George but it wasn't the greatest (they'd removed all the furniture which was special). The Railway Telegraph is meant to be the other pub but when we tried that it was home fans only, don't know if that's now changed.

The info posted on official BFC site is not accurate.

The Northern Line from Kings Cross only goes as far as Moorgate, from there you can catch a No 43 bus to London Bridge.

Using Underground you can take the Victoria Line from Kings Cross to Green Park and then the Jubilee Line to London Bridge before the train to Norwood Junction.

If you're at king's cross then the best thing to do would be to get the train from St Pancras (the two stations are connected) straight to Norwood junction.

Trains are every half an hour and take about 25 minutes.

The above also applies if you come into Euston. Walk to St Pancras (10 minutes) and get the train direct.

London Bridge to Norwood Junction is also an option. Trains are every 10 minutes or so and journey time is less than 15 minutes.
Barrow Boy and Banker pub directly opposite London Bridge Station brings back memories of Charlton and 23 undefeated.

I think we’ve always got underground from Euston to London Bridge and then train from there to Norwood Junction.

Another option is Underground from Euston to Victoria and then train to Selhurst.

Railway Telegraph was ok last time I went in. Good music out the back in a covered area. Just across from the station on the right.

Underground from Euston to London Bridge will require a change. Victoria line to Green Park and then Jubilee line to London Bridge.

I've not done it often enough to remember whether there was a change required but we've used that route in the past and also the one using Selhurst station. The two stations are about equidistant from the ground I'd say.

The “TFL Go” app is really useful, gives real time travel times taking into account current travel conditions. Still loads of strikes on the underground and weekend travel is often disrupted by unplanned maintenance.

Yep, been closed for about 2 months (poss more) and another 4-5 to go off the top of my head. The Charing Cross side of the line is open though. All down to rebuilding the nightmare of Bank station.

Luton Airport Parkway - fast train direct to Norwood Junction 55 mins + £17.00 - 10 minute walk.
