Just a heads up.

This has been fully remastered and has been released on streaming platforms to coincide with the 53rd anniversary of The Beatles last live gig together (30/1/69).

It sounds superb too

I love the rooftop concert. The whole film is a bit if a hard watch as the band kind of disintegrates.

But as they start to play on the roof you can see John and Paul start to get that groove back in their faces.

Stopping touring probably hastened tenor denise

All these years Denise has kept her head down, with her deep voice for a lady, but where was she hurrying?

I love typos. They make more sense than the transfer thread.

For any Beatles fans reading Nowhere Boy is available to stream on All 4 for the next month or so.

The story of John Lennon's childhood and teenage years before he and the rest of the band found worldwide fame.

The Peter Jackson clips I've seen on Youtube tend to suggest a more unified band than has often been suggested

Would highly recommend the Peter Jackson doc. It’s long, but is like being a fly on the wall for the Let it Be sessions.

I am always curious as to how good they were as musicians. They didnt read music, and were all relatively late starters on guitars. And yet lennon and harrison are regarded as very good players. Harrison in particular.
I am a fan.

I think Harrison is regarded as a decent player and Ringo a competent drummer. Never heard much about Lennon's musicianship or Paul's bass playing.

I tend to think that if you listen to the White album in particular it is a sublime in both writing and playing. Not sure to what extent George Martin was an influence but I think that the White album is the best album there is by some distance.

Saying that the Stones in the Mick Taylor period were also sublime. In fact, Dylan, Floyd etc, but objectively I think the White album is unbelievable.

Rumour has it that George Martin wanted the White Album as a single and not a double but was shouted down by Lennon. Great album but some very strange tracks laid down.

Mmmm. I've not seen the re release but watching some of the older version is cringeworthy at times.

PAUL: (trying to engage John) and I don't know why he's so against it. I know we said no films again but this is a film and its going well isn't it?

JOHN: (noncommittal grunt)

There's also a scene with George and Rungo looking at Octopuses Garden. Everyone's having a bit of a laugh and Paul walks it's like the scene from the Slaughtered Lamb in American Werewolf in London. He kind of says hey what's going on and there's this awkward silence.

They were hanging on at that point. George left. Ringo left. (They both came back) everyone blamed Paul for the Mystery Tour fiasco. The music is still great but the cracks are thee and there's nothing pulling them together any more.

Until the rooftop. For a magic short tine they'ee that iconic band again.

They definitely seem more unified in the PJ doc, especially after the arguments in ep1 are out of the way.

The major turning point is Billy Preston turning up. As soon as he starts playing with the band everyone’s enthusiasm ignites. It’s incredible to see it happen in real time.

Indeed Billy Preston's keyboards are magnificent.

Went to see 'George!' tribute act at Bury Met last Friday - highly recommended for any Beatles, Harrison, Wilburys fans.
