It's a yes from me (this is all hypothetical as who knows if he'd even come).

I think there’s likely a number of good reasons why he’s spent the first half of the last two seasons without a club. We’ve failed to get any help for the midfield four windows in a row, so he’s possibly now the next best option.

All of that said, the club will do their homework and may have been warned off him.

Absolutely yes to this - he's apparently fit (well, fit enough for Wilshere). No brainer - what's to lose? Six month deal to provide an option off the bench.

Yes - more technical ability than our midfield. Needs to prove his fitness but he’ll be desperate to show he can do it.

Get him in, get him fit, use him.

He could certainly play the Defour role - better than any of our current midfield for 60 minutes then a month sat on the physio table.

He won't be anywhere near fit enough to play in the Premier league so lets save our money instead of throwing it away on has beens

There’s a reason why other clubs, even at Championship level or in Scotland are not bothering with him. Something must up straight away in the medical.

I am not certain we have anyone who can "sell the club" to a new target like they could. I am pretty certain if Lampard had not joined Everton yesterday Deli Ali would not know be an Everton player. I am from the old school that people buy off people not organisations

Yep, not 1 player turned us down in the Cotterill or Stan era

I'd consider inviting him to join training if he was interested and assess him for a short term deal. I cant see any negatives apart from the media hype and perhaps disjointing the nose of any of out current players who he may replace if he comes on board.

The idea of Wilshire coming here is predicated on Wilshire wanting to and doing so on our terms. It seems that as he hasn't been picked up by any other club the issue might be with what he is demanding.

Scenario 1.
Wilshire is happy to work on a short term deal, knowing that he will take a couple of weeks and reserve games to get anywhere near match fit.

Scenario 2.
Wilshire wants a 1 or 2 year contract on high wages based on his career. This would make sense for him, but isn't as feasible for most clubs.

I suspect the latter is why he hasn't been picked up by anyone.

We need a celebrity manager like Rooney or even give John Terry a try.

If Wilshere was fit and ready to play Premier League football then I'd go and pick him up myself. I'd be amazed if anyone could get him fit to play football now at this level.

There's risk to life vs the risk of wasting your club's money.

The kind of device Eriksen is fitted with is proven to be very effective at reviving people. Doctor's very often advise against people in his situation from playing excessive sport purely out of the cautionary principle. Hopefully it won't be put to the test. The risk to life is there but it is very, very low. There's every reason to suspect he'll be able to play a significant role for Brentford.

Wilshere a different case altogether. His risk to life is virtually nil. But his likelihood of playing football for any sustained period is a similar number.

Jack Wilshere had his contract cancelled last week at Aarhus in Denmark.

He has just announced his retirement from football at the age of 30.

Thats a shame, but be a difficult decision for him. I hope he continues in the game though

It’s been a career of fighting injuries that have eventually forced him to quit. He still won 34 England caps and you wonder just how many he might have won had he not had so many injuries.

I once went over to Accy Stanley’s ground to watch Burnley youth team versus Arsenal youth team. A friend of mine had a nephew playing for Burnley so we decided to take the match in. Arsenal won 2-6 I think it was: there was a young 15 or 16 year old called Jack Wilshere playing for Arsenal, who scored 2 and laid on 3 others: he was outstanding and stood out head and shoulders over the rest. So mush talent at such a young age, it’s a shame his career was plagued by injuries. Good luck to him.

Wilshere enjoyed a good career, but sadly has been plagued by injuries throughout, shame because if he'd remained fit he'd have been some player at his best.

With his technical ability you'd hope there would be a coaching role for him somewhere - possibly at academy level or similar

Must be an incredibly hard adjustment to make when your career is cut short - hopefully he is reasonably well prepared given the injury situations he has had to deal with in recent years

The result was 5-1 but Wilshere didn't even play in that game. The outstanding player who stood out head and shoulders over the rest that night was Henri Lansbury. He scored a hat trick and got an assist.

He had been at Arsenal doing some youth coaching prior to his last playing role.
