Peanuts when you're so overpaid.

You always wonder how such things work under employment law, it has to be a case of voluntarily accepting the scheme rather than being forced to pay if you did not want to

Harsh reality of how much 1st team squad players earn compared to an average fan.

Those fines maybe just about right to hurt without overdoing it, the £10k is about an average days wage :(

Based on a guy earning £30k a year the
like for like equivalent fine as a % of his wage
equates to a fine of £6.50.

As you said peanuts.

Still, not sure things like this will go down too well with the squad.

Slightly different than the Burnley players repeatedly setting up Patrick Bamford for fines and then ensuring he had to do an Elvis impression.

I saw an interview with him when he said he'd run out of Elvis songs.

Reported £900,000 per week which will be £128,571 per day, £5357.13 per hour, £89.29 per minute, £1.49 per second. Mind boggling.

And that is just his Real Madrid wage, never mind his bonuses, signing on fee, endorsement deals etc.

Curtis Davies was on the radio the other day and he said Lampard had a similar thing in place when he was at Derby, albeit lower costing fines and they think he had it in place at Chelsea.

I always found that, bar obvious problems, people who enjoy their work are rarely late. Indeed they get there early.

I'm therefore surprised such a formal set of rules is necessary.

They are quite hefty fines no matter what each player earns.

You have to remember that any player earning £40,000 per week will be paying 45% tax plus NIC. So a £10k fine is substantial, and for some dopy clever charlie's they will be paying every week.

Three quarters of an hour late for a meeting and you’re down £22,500

If you’re a player on £25k a week that’s about half of your monthly take home pay.

But given that you wouldn't get fined every week (unless you are a total """") you'd have plenty of money saved for a rainy day, so the impact would be negligible.

I hope Everton are donating the players fines monies to worthwhile charities helping people in the many disadvantaged areas of Liverpool? That would be an excellent gesture.

What happens to the fine money? Does it go back to the club or does it go in a kitty to pay for the Xmas do?
