Someone asked my age to see if I qualified for an old person's discount the other day.

I fully intended to give her my glasses and say "look again ______ (insert rude word) but I couldn't find my glasses (I think I left them in the car to be honest). By the time I'd finished searching my pockets and pondering what I had done with them I' completely forgotten the insult albeit the wife got a mouthful later about young people needing to go to Specsavers etc.

60's. Generally, what I heard in the 60's was pretty shite all round, but much later I got to hear hendrix, jefferson airplane, velvet underground etc. For the sheer exuberant power though ill pick "communication breakdown" by zeppelin which just makes the time frame.
70's. At the time, I'd have been into Herbert howells Stravinsky, Arnold bax as popular music until 1976/7was not something I'd want to live through again. Then along came the stranglers,the ruts, the very beginning of new wave, 2112 and so much more. I'm cheating here and going for an lp - ufo's "strangers in the night". I suppose I was sort of in the music Industry for half this decade...
.80's - spoilt for choice. "how soon is now" by the smiths but from a long list and I'll think differently tomorrow.
90's - "red tide" by rush. "white noise" by Mike peters. The first three tracks of "gold against the soul" take some beating though. As good a triage of consecutive tracks as you get on an album. Pleased to see someone pick the super furry animals above.
00's "your spirit's alive/the warriors code" by the dropkick Murphy. Again, you have to play them in a pair. Would be superb for us to come out to, I always thought. "shoot on sight" by the peth is excellent given that it's by a band made up of an actor and some musicians just messing around and having a bloody good time.
10's "a contres courant" by our very own madge where she looks dead cute in the video.
