We need an extra man in midfield to stop being overrun and to feed our strikers.

Mcneil isn't involved in the game enough out wide, missing the drive from Taylor. Weghorst shown some nice touches and high energy but hasn't had much to go at.

Yup over run in midfield against the mighty Watford.
Lennon looking one of our more mobile and creative players (I never thought I'd be forming such an opinion)
Rather lucky to be going in at half time at 0-0.

Lennon is actually the best of our midfield
And that sums us up perfectly !!

I have been pleading for us to play 3-5-2 all week. Collins Tarks and Mee would be a great back 3

I’ve been saying it for two years our midfield is awful and is the main reason we are bottom of the league.

I don't think we were overrun. But our wide players have to deliver more than that. McNeil was dreadful again

Lennon is doing well, but after a decade of premier league football to have a 34 year old Lennon on the right of midfield tells you everything you need to know about how badly we've made a mess of recruitment in recent years

Early days so I’m not writing him off but I want to see a lot more than that from Roberts - disappointed with him tonight (not that he was by any means the worst out there).

It doesn't really matter who we put into midfield to be totally honest, the players we have at this stage of their careers, just aren't good enough to stay up

Only 2 years? I get comments coming up on my FB memories from 4-5 years ago and I was saying exactly the same. We are clueless when we have the ball.

Taking Lennon off and keeping McNeil on until the end shows how tactically inept Dyche is.

I must admit to finding Stephens’ performance a puzzle. He kept giving the ball away. Surely Cork is a better option. I was hoping that he would be replaced at half time but he wasn’t.

We missed out on the Croatian Orisic but given how poor our midfield is for this division why had we not got at least two more midfield targets lined up. If we had we would have been too late to sign somone because as usual everything we do in the wondows is last minute.

From that point on Dwight was on the right wing where he does not play his best football.
Showed just how badly we needed another right winger in the last window.

We did, but not as much as we needed reinforcements in the midfield.
It'll cost us our PL status.

I watched the first half back and we weren’t overrun in midfield at all. Some poor play conceded some good chances for them, but we weren’t overrun and dominated most of the half.
Will watch the second half tomorrow.

3-5-2 the perfect system for Burnley's ageing players but it will NOT happen with Mr.Dyche

That would be the ideal solution Elizabeth. I have just got back in the house after a bad journey home and was discussing the match with my daughter during the journey. We both agreed that McNeil was a passenger in that game and offered nothing whatsoever in our hour of need. He should have been subbed instead of Lennon. Feel so deflated tonight. Even the happy clapping optimists on here cannot sugar coat what we witnessed a few hours ago.
Never mind, there will be some good away days in the Championship.

Son had it on, it wasn’t my choice. Wife saved me from the second half.
First half is worth a watch back if you’re completely depressed this morning though.

Dyche thinks Westwood is a better option than Cork watching a different game that’s why we are where we are

I didn't think we were overrun in midfield yesterday and actually thought Stephens did ok. But we will be overrun against Man U and Liverpool. Brownhill needs to come back in, probably for Lennon (who also played reasonably well to be fair) and allow Roberts to be our main attacking threat on the right.

Orsic is a wide player though isn't he, so even if we'd have nabbed him I doubt it would have made much if any difference, it's staggering to me that PL players can't pass the ball too each other, but sadly that's where BFC are at this point in time.
Defence has generally been fairly solid in recent games, the horror show at Leeds apart, but we don't look like scoring for love nor money.
