Jury’s out for me, but you can’t judge anyone on one game in conditions like that.

Hard to judge really given its one game but looked pretty average. Couple of decent flick ons

Very hard game to judge in such atrocious conditions, possibly the worst we’ve seen in a long time on the Turf. Thought he showed some promise, linked play better than Wood and got into a few good positions and with a touch more luck might have scored.

Strange one.

Showed some good touches at times but i can’t see how a striker that slow can make an impact. Might improve with better service at some point

I didn’t think he looked that slow - certainly no slower than Wood.

First game in a new league / country in shite conditions and in a really poor team performance. Too soon to tell.

Cut him some slack.....£12 million doesn't buy you a world beater in the Premier League.

Could have Shearer and Wright in their pomp up front and they’d struggle to score with the lack of service.

Jury is out. Looked pretty poor but awful conditions tonight. Also from everything I have seen of him on them youtube analysis videos is that he is best anticipating on throw ins and corners, attacking the ball after the first touch/ flick on. Today we seemed to be using him for the flick ons which goes against everything which he seems to be good at. So until Dyche starts using him in a way which his other clubs have done and been successful then I doubt we will reap the rewards

We couldn’t go tonight but managed to watch the game on tv. You do get a different perspective on tv and see repeats of incidents that allow you to make perhaps a different judgment than you would seeing the game live. He looked slow to be honest and wanted far too much time on the ball, not brilliant with his feet. In his defence it was his first game and it will take him a few games to get up to speed, I’m sure his previous league is nothing like the Premier League and he’ll realise that very quickly.

Awful conditions and his first game but seemed a bit leggy and behind the pace. One or two decent touches apart.

Unfair to judge any new signing in tonight’s conditions I would have thought.

Maybe just the angle I had but I thought he was considerably slower than Wood.

I can’t see Weghorst scoring the goal Wood did against Brentford for example.

First game so can’t be too critical, he had a couple of decent touches.

Conditions obviously didn't help. Unlike Cornet's first couple games there was no 'sit up and take notice' moments.
We may have almost exactly replaced Wood, though there was a through ball I remember and Wout was onside! So there's something

Won most things in the air
Can control a football
Is considerably faster than Wood
Tackles back better than Wood

-
Not up to PL speed yet and wanted too much time

He’ll do well for us once bedded in

Think he'll be quite decent in the Championship.

Not the best centre forward play and not a patch on Wood.

Needs to sharpen considerably.

Let's hope he does.

He’s a upgrade from wood he actually headed the ball and some of the touches was good to bring players into play just a shame the players are Stephen’s and Westwood

I wonder if hes ever played in a team before that has a shadow midfield and doesn't supply any crosses?

Overall I was disappointed ( and I suspect he was too)
but he had no service and might be lacking enough pace to be a success in the Premier. Like any player he is going to need some time which I hope the fans will give him. Score the winner against United and he will be an instant hero

I don't know what his mileage (Or Kms) figures were but I'm guessing he'll be up there amongst the most.

I liked what I saw for a first game in atrocious conditions. Needs to sharpen up a little. You don't get a lot of time to make up your mind in the Prem. We need to practice those long throw-in routines.

Need to concentrate less on him, and more on the players around him...the lot of them threw him to the wolves....Felt sorry for the lad.

Seriously? One game in those conditions, with pathetic service; and we're asking for a verdict? Get a grip.

Pointless thread. How can anyone be judged in those conditions tonight? Just standing up must have been difficult. No surprise to me that neither team scored. That said, he's a vast improvement on Wood, because, so far as I'm aware, he wasn't offside once tonight.

OK, we only got a point. I guess we'll just have to get three on Tuesday instead. Think positive for goodness sake.

I thought he looked a decent footballer, not a battering ram target man. Worked hard but often dropped too deep. His touch round the defender was very very good

One poster ‘not a patch on Wood’

I mean, he may or may not be, but to make a decision on 1. One game 2. One game in the worst footballing conditions possible, just shows how clueless some peoples knowledge of football actually is, painful.

The angle? Not sure what angle at a match makes someone slower or quicker.
Either way, judging a player on one match in those conditions is laughable

Watching him run towards me it’s difficult to tell how quick or slow he was but he appeared to be considerably slower than the players near to him.

I clearly haven’t made judgement, hence the comments around his touch and it being his first game 👍

He is slower than Wood both in acceleration and sprinting speed but is taller, stronger and a better header (despite Wood being good at all three). He is more like Crouch than Wood, all arms and legs. At least two players went down having been caught by a flailing arm at (their) head height. He drops very deep I noticed, a bit too deep for me (to bring Cornet into play) but we’ll see how he transitions to our tactics.

He won’t score as many as in the Bundesliga but I would hope he would get 10 a season in open play.

Also, those conditions were horrendous, high balls were doing all kinds of weird things, it wasn’t just wind it was swirling. So I felt the conditions didn’t suit his game at all today.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that performance, in those conditions. Held up play very well, won flick ons, brought others into play. Will take time to adjust to the speed and physicality of the league but those saying he looked awful, in those conditions, in my opinion are being ridiculously harsh.

Bo**ocks to the conditions so can we only judge players on dry sunny days, we all seemed to agree with the Newcastle fans on wood debut vs Watford when he blanked but it’s different when WW does the same thing & we can blame it on a abit of rain & wind.

Yes I’m in Burnley now, tonight’s been horrendous weather wise but it was the same for everybody we are judging a player on his performance & making allowances for the weather.
