Why why why
Why not give a young lad that place
And speaking of youngsters we will have to be shut of Dyche for any to be given a chance
Old enough = good enough
Give some of them a run instead of the #### we keep watching

Even putting a younger player or two on the bench gives them and others hope .

Absolutely drives me mad when we stick 2 keepers on bench. Utterly pointless.

You wonder in what scenario Bardsley would have been brought on ?

Manchester United had two keepers on the bench on Friday (Grant & Heaton) and often do. A lot of Premier League clubs do. We only do it when we are down on numbers.

Probably the very least of our worries. Like we’d ever bring on our 9th choice substitute.

Putting a youngster on the bench who isn’t good enough or hasn’t done enough to deserve a place on the bench doesn’t send out a great message either.

So your saying we have U 18, 21, 23s and non of them cut it...then we do have a problem....isn't good enough"...are you seriously suggesting there isn't a young one who could give more than Stephens !

Presumably not, or they’d be in the match day squad.

It’s the reality of being a Premier League club with a less than equivalent academy.

At the end of the day this manager doesn't do youth or loans

Even if someone Like Helm was never going to come on, being involved and around the squad is immense experience

Or a lack of quality coaches?
We have signed most of the U23s so it's not really to do with the academy.

It is a reflection on the previous recruitment process and our ability to attract young, top of the pile recruits to the system.
However, we gmhave had success with bigger clubs cast offs, as they are often excellent players making way, as they will not reach the pinacle.

One success, Ian.

I know SD has proved to be a real guiding figure for our defenders such as Keane, Tarks and Mee. However where does the "creativity and attacking" coaching come from-or does it??. It may have an influence on how players like McNeil or Vydra play and develop. Or is it down to our bunch of players to progress this style of play themselves. A number of teams now employ attacking coaches, even set play coaches. I know all PL sides have at least one GK coach. Are we missing out in attack

The second goalkeeper is more likely to be needed than the eighth outfielder. It's possible to need to (and to be able to) replace the keeper twice in one game, but you can't replace more than four outfielders.

We have the best goalkeeper coach in football Billy.Hes coaches two of our keepers into the England team
But why have we allowed Dwight to develop from 14 without coaching him to use both feet and who decided to play him wide right?
We need some new coaches at U23 and first team level.
Micheal Mellon would have made his first team debut at Liverpool or Man U regardless of his age.We don't follow the mantra if you are good enough you are old enough
Helm has to be better than Dale surely

I think SD does it to keep the 3rd choice 'keeper involved, which makes sense to me

I would play three at the back.
Hennessy. Pope. Norris.
