Is it really worth going to the game tonight?

I am sat here pondering if it is really worth the 4 hr round trip tonight. I have a season ticket and 3 kids in tow. They wanted to leave the game early on Saturday and are not too eager about tonight. The late night and lack of enthusiasm are pushing me close to not bothering. Here are the cumulative issues that are affecting my decision:
Queues to get in
Gannow Top Roundabout jams
Ticket access issues
Unclear signage
Poor kiosk service
Lighting outside the ground
Cold tea
Slow beer
The wind
The rain
The poor football
Wet seats
Wet feet and legs
The poor atmosphere
The lack of warm water in the loos
Season ticket renewal issues
So few goals at home
So fee wins all year
So, why the hell should I bother tonight and in turn encourage kids to?

Away your denying your kids the opportunity to se all those Man U stars in action and next season change their allegiance.
The reason we are in the PL is to give our children to see other teams and support them.

I suggest a strong cup of tea immediately. Look out of the window and listen to the birds.
Go to the game if you'd like to, or don't go to the game if you don't want to.
In the spirit of endowing you with a positive outlook I've suggested a few things which will mitigate the everyday things which are troubling you:
Queues to get in - Arrive as early as possible. If the queueing problems persist, write to the club and suggest a solution
Gannow Top Roundabout jams - Set off early and allow extra time. Or plan out a different route
Ticket access issues - Solution is as per the "Queues to get in" issue
Unclear signage - I'm not sure what the problems are here?
Poor kiosk service - Agree the service is poor. Suggest you pack a snack before you leave
Lighting outside the ground - As a Bob Lorder I'm not aware of the issue but you could do something positive and inform the club of this problem
Cold tea - Pack a flask
Slow beer - Are you seriously going to queue for a beer and a tea at half time? The beer in the ground is awful. Just avoid in, epecially midweek. Who wants a beer when it's cold and wet?
The wind Not a lot we can do about the elements. It's down to your personal choice here. Grumbling about them certainly won't help but it will become a habit if you don't catch it
The rain See above
The poor football Again, not much we can do about this on a practical level. We've played some dire football this season but we've also played well too. You can choose to stay at home or you can choose to turn up and cheer on your team
Wet seats Pack a small towel
Wet feet and legs See 'not much we can do about the elements. You CAN wear sensible, waterproof clothing though
The poor atmosphere This is something we most definitely CAN do something about. If you're concerned about the lack of atmosphere you should resolve to make it better - get behind the lads! Shout some encouragement! Be positive.
The lack of warm water in the loos I'm not sure this is a massive issue. Frankly I don't think I expect hot water in the taps at a football ground.
Season ticket renewal issues This is a problem, but it's not really something that should stop you going tonight
So few goals at home Yeah, it's not the greatest to watch but it's your choice. Stay at home or come along and get behind the team.
So fee wins all year Yup. See above
All of this is posted in the spirit of encouraging you to come down tonight. I hope you turn up and I hope we win. For every problem there is a solution, but if you only focus on the problem, without looking for the solution, then you risk becoming disenchanted and beaten.
It's all a state of mind.

Ask the ones who decided they couldn't be arsed going to Old Trafford when we won 2-0 2 year ago if they wish they had gone instead of jacking it in

Only 3 of the issues listed could come into my reckoning (poor football, lack of goals and wins). I couldn't give a stuff about the rest and I only live 15 minutes away. That said its never been a question I ask myself.
But I can understand it must be a hard sell to your kids.

Erm this is football. Analysed rationally why would I drive for 3 hours tonight to sit in the cold and watch 22 men running around trying to put a bag of wind into a huge net only using their feet and head. That really makes no sense. Yet I’ll be there getting angry at a man for blowing a whistle at the wrong time or waving his arms in the wrong way.

I’ve a season ticket and I’m not. Drenched to the skin on Sat and felt awful since. Don’t mind the cold and I’ve sat in snow but thinking of changing seat now. It’s worth putting up with with some entertainment. I’ve not seen us win this season, there are no goals and the football is dire. I can watch Ronaldo run rings around us on the box and don’t have to rush to get there from work.

You know the football and experience is truly dire when you cba with United at home. Would have killed for this 10 years ago or more.
However on we go, went to work in my big coat this morning then straight on the game after

Looking at the state of things at present it could be easy to convince oneself that it’s not worth going. I am currently sat in my flat one hundred and twenty miles away from the Turf. I booked my train tickets and sorted out my overnight stay yesterday. I have got two days off work and I have just checked weather forecast, only drizzling in Burnley later on and actually quite warm.
I will be on the train just after lunchtime and will partake in a few decent ales on the way up North. Saturday was a horrible day in every possible way. I drove up and had to endure Gannow Top twice and the rain was cold and torrential at times. Won’t be anything like that today. I’m not optimistic of a result on the pitch but just hoping we can play with the spirit we showed at Arsenal and string a few more passes together. Hopefully the new man Wout might give a better account of himself tonight in better conditions. That is of course if he actually sees much of the ball.
I have got to be honest though, if we get stuffed tonight I will be asking myself is it worth spending more hard earned money to drag myself up on Sunday for the third home match in nine days? I probably will do. Let’s hope the lads can give us something to cheer about with a gutsy display tonight so that we can look forward to Sunday with a bit of optimism.

Living in Norwich and currently laid up after knee surgery I’d say get to the Turf at every opportunity! Match day is called match ‘day’ for a reason. That’s because it’s more than just going to the match. It’s meeting friends, having a beer and talking about football. I can’t wait to get back!

Yep, the results and football have been dire, but we are playing one of the biggest clubs in the world, and it might be a long time before we see them back at the Turf. If we hadn't played them for years - this would be a top-top game for us, and UTC would be filled with people begging for spare tickets.

If you are travelling from the south or west heading to Burnley why not leave the M65 at the junction for the M66 (Bury, Manchester), then leave the bypass at Haslingden and travel through Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth to Burnley.
This would avoid going through the Gannow Top area and traffic through Crawshawbooth over to Manchester Road is usually very light.
Just a thought.

I’ve “manipulated” my hols to get back from lanzarote, to have a night on The Turf with my son ‘cos that’s what footys about for me, time with my son…………….and you never know, maybe, just maybe…….it’s one of those “Robbie Blake” or Spurs in the cup evenings……….more likely not, but it’s certainly better than being a “follower of one of the big 6” where you boo simply ,cos they haven’t won 4-0………

This time next year, it could quite conceivably be Rotherham or Luton Town...!!

I totally get the OP here, it's hard to motivate yourself to spend all the time and money when you are so pee'd off when you're leaving the ground. But we, as football fans, are always telling ourselves that the next game is the one that everything comes good and I couldn't miss it!

To be clear my original post isn't intended as a wind up. Reading all the issues on here throughout the weeks and the game on Saturday, it has really just made it feel like a mega hassle to go.
I've felt lile rubbish since Saturday (getting soaked and cold).
I understand many of the replies and will probably go, but right now I cannot be bothered!

The thing is, if we needed a win at Rotherham to get back in the top two in whatever league, we genuinely would be scrambling for tickets. As ludicrous as it sounds, playing Man United has become mundane. Fighting for promotion will always be exciting.
