Weghorst injury

Wide range of diagnosis from the medical experts on twitter ranging from ACL to hamstring to hip injury. Not surprised he got injured with the amount of ground he covered today.
Hopefully not out for too long.

Did my ACL 6 months ago, worst injury I’ve had, still struggling now and need an opp but put it off due to work

It would be good to see how he would link up with Vyds but I don't think we will see vyds for a while

The fact that we’re relying on the likes of Barnes and Lennon in 2022 is one of the reasons why we’re heading down.

Didn’t look like an ACL, looked more like he’d pulled his arse muscle.

Just our luck. We absolutely need him for these upcoming fixtures too.

If he's injured for even 1 or 2 games it's a bit of a disaster

Almost certainly a dead leg.

Yeah I think it was maybe Fabinho who slipped into him just before a set piece, when he was running across to mark him. Absolutely accidental, but almost certain it was a dead leg.

Yeah but I’m considering the bigger picture. The failure to progress the squad in successive transfer windows is going to cost us.

Not sure, it looked to be on landing with nobody near him. Looked more muscular to me.

Took a knee in the thigh, could be just a deadleg. Temporarily painful.

The cameras were showing replays of him landing for the injury. As if he just jarred something.
Looked to be in too much pain for a dead leg sadly.

He 100% got a dead leg , which can literally fell a man and make it almost impossible to even limp properly . However he may have done something else on landing

I was hoping it was a muscular instead of a ligament injury since did try and run it off. Seemed to want to carry on regardless and upset at going off. Hope he is ok.

The injury occurred when Weghorst challenged for one of Pope’s goal kicks. He clashed with two Liverpool players and all 3 of them missed the ball and the ball landed at McNeil’s feet (just after he had come on). I hope the injury isn’t serious and I am certainly no expert but if I was to hazard a guess with how the incident played out I would guess either a clash of knees or a dead leg.

Saw he got crushed between 2 Liverpool players going up for an header. My guess is hip or lower back knock

If it had been any kind of serious knock, he'd have down the tunnel and having treatment and, like Cornet was, not left to watch the match out on the bench, wrapped up for sure, but still in danger of stiffening up or letting the injury deteriorate.

I’m 5 weeks post ACL reconstruction so I hope it isn’t that! Fingers crossed it’s just a knock because he’d be a massive loss!

Plus he was chatting with Van Djik after the game and walked off with a slight limp. If it was a ligament injury he'd have some kind of ice on it and wouldn't be moving as freely.

It's cramp. But if it's anything like Cornet's it will mean he's bloody useless next game!!!

Dyche said ont BBC that he didn't think it was too serious but they need to have a look or words to that effect.
I like the look of this bloke, so fingers crossed he's ready for Brighton.

Liverpool apart, is there any teams in this league that have a "pacy free-scoring goal machine"?
I'd hazard a guess that most teams have a center forward that they would prefer to be in the starting line up. Hence this thread

Don’t know where all this cramp/dead leg/hamstring is coming from. He landed with a straight leg and his knee then buckled a bit and he was holding the back if his knee afterwards. Seems like a twist or sprain. If it was ligament damage I wouldn’t have thought he’d be able to walk off after the game

Did Dyche not comment on this after the game?
I may be wrong, but I think both Maxwel and Vout’s injuries were planned substitutions and a bit of gamesmanship. Both were on 70 minutes. In Vout’s case, Barnes had already warmed up and was stripped ready to come on.
I thought Cornet was playing for some time and a break in play. Not sure why Vout would do that at 1-0 down really, unless it’s to protect Dyche from what might be perceived as negative substitutions given they’re our star men.

WW was clearly really struggling and he doesn’t seem like a guy that would go off if he wasn’t in some discomfort.

I agree. It just seemed a bit odd that both were at 70 minutes and my son had said “Barnes us coming on” just before the tackle. Suppose it could have been for someone else as I think he sat back down for a minute. Really unlucky if he was about to be subbed.

Barnes wasn’t ready to come on when Wout initially went down.
He tried to play through it but it was obvious he was struggling and the rest of the players were telling him to sit down, that’s when the physios came on and he was taken off for Barnes

I agree Tony, I watched it back and it certainly looks like a worrying injury.
I always think the worst when no one is close to the player.

He looked to have been sandwiched between two players, the one on the inside running right into him. So other players were involved, though not having seen it back I don’t know whether it was how he landed or the impact from the players which caused it?

Did my acl, walked off pitch, was on night's, went to work and worked all night, however I could only walk backwards up my path prior to going to work, iced it and elevated for a couple of hours and then went to work, was my last night before weekend and thought I'd rest up and be reyt, wrong !! Was 3 times the size it should have been morning after, went to a & e following Monday morning, then fracture clinic, doctor said it's not anything serious, you just need physio, ended up paying private, mri scan, absolute horrendous injury, acl, chipped bone, and extensive meniscus damage.

When I did my ACL in 2019, the pain from the tackle was intense but it went within seconds. I stood up (with aid) and thought I was alright, I then started hobbling and had to sit back down. I had surgery six weeks later and I still struggle with it now, my knee clicks going up and down stairs and it’s constantly on my mind when I have to do anything physical at all.
I looked very much like Weghorst did yesterday afternoon when it happened to me.
I pray I’m wrong.

Sounds like mine, doc said it was going to be fine, went back to work when pain and swelling had subsided and knee just buckled underneath me with no strength or stability to it. Went private who said they didnt know where the NHS doc got his qualifications from as it was clear as day on the MRI my ACL was knackered with associated cartilage damage. Once repaired by them, and after sticking rigidly to the physio advice, touch wood I've had no issues at all since 2007, including returning to football 4 times a week
