A fight about 5 years to late.
Brook wins for me, Khan has no chin.

Simply because I don't like Khan, I hope that he gets pasted.

Prime vs prime there’s only one winner Brook by stoppage. Now I’m genuinely not sure. Brooks always had a strong jaw but the Crawford fight he folded quicker than a cheap suitcase. Khan could easily overwhelm him early on and force him to quit again.

Why? Why do you wonder that? I don’t wonder that, because I have been watching Khan since he came thru the olympics and it’s obvious why he’s disliked, so why do you wonder why he dislikes him?
Anyway, if brook lays leather on Khan, it’s brooks fight. Khans chin is made of crystal. Sure brooks punch resistance isnt what it was, but a small child could put Khan down.
As already said tho, five years too late.

Take Prescott out of the mix, these children’s punches he struggled with were elite level boxers just like the punches that did Brook in Spence and GGG…

It always makes me laugh when people state that Khan has a glass chin, he’s taken some heavy shots from the like of Maidana. It’s Khans defence which is the problem. The times he’s been knocked clean out are due to his appalling defence, usually when he’s stepping in to attack at the same time which multiplies the power.
Brook wasted his career. Too much “alleged” partying and taking party dust causing the ballooning of weight in between fights and the weakening of the bone structure around his sinuses…
A pre golovkin Brook who stayed in shape would have beaten Spence. He was out boxing him until he gassed out and never had enough in the tank to see him through.

Both fighters did well until they came up against the elite. No shame in that at all.
Khan seems to underestimate Brook. I think Khan schools him for 3 rounds but gets caught which will change the fight completely.

Fair enough maybe I’ve been a little harsh, he’s been in with some big hitters,
But…. When he’s caught, he’s absolutely gone. I just think brook has more than enough power to despatch him. I also think all the top 20 in the division put him away.

It shouldn’t make you laugh, it should make you cringe. He gets knocked out far too easily. Say it’s because he’s advancing into the punch, say it’s his poor defence, but he didn’t march onto Canelos overhand right. The fact is he gets caught and when he does, he goes. He doesn’t get up either.
I reckon brook COULD stop him with a straight left.
Khans a decent boxer, and he has a dig, but he has no chin.

On boxing ability khan has always been better. Brooks career has been underwhelming to say the least. Would have been a fantastic fight 7 years ago.
More interested in Taylor vs Catterall the week after. Josh Taylor will go down as an all time great, he's unbelievable talent. Catterall is relatively local (chorley) and also unbeaten.

The canelo knockout is a perfect example of Khans poor defence. He got timed going in for a shot and The new and improved *cough cough* Canelo hits like a freight train.
Khan is a fantastic boxer.. if he had defence and discipline he would have been very very difficult to beat. He seems to loose focus and wants to get involved in a tear up and gets clipped. That’s his downfall. Can’t knock Khan too much he’s been in some really good fights over the years.
I agree though if Brook starts landing leather Khan it’s only a matter of time.
5 years too late but it probably makes it a more even fight in a way.

Khan doesn’t have a great chin but he’s only been knocked out 4 times and two of them were against the two best boxers in the world. Danny Garcia was a solid world champ too.
Brook looks rattled to me. I’m not sure why Brook keeps going on about the weight limit when it’s already 2lbs above welterweight. If Brook doesn’t get Khan out early, Khan wins handily on points or by late stoppage.

Brook by KO, before the seventh.
After that I see brook tiring quicker. Longer it goes on, the more chance Khan has I think if he can stay away from any desperate swings.

The way the fight sold out in under 20 minutes tells you the demand for tickets, and this will see a draw or controversial win for one of them and then that will set it up nicely for Khan v Brooke ll in London around Christmas time

I’m only the most casual, armchair boxing fan but one thing does interest me about the sport. Where does the ‘boxing tense’ form of vocabulary come from?
Whenever anyone talks about boxing, you have to use this sort of future/present tense mix. “I think Fury wins”.. “Khan schools him easily” etc.
Never happens in football, or anything else, completely unique to boxing chat. It’s “I think United will win”.. but never “United wins this easily”.
Not that important I guess, and I may start using it myself to sound like a bit more of an aficionado.

A good point, well put. I'm sure we all await the reply with bated breath.
I know what he (or she) was inferring, as most of us do I think. Never crossed my mind.

This is a sham fight anyway , 2 past their prime elite level fighters getting a huge last payday. I like Khan ,ultimately he’s just a lad who went a bit skewiff with his “ birds n booze” ( what young lad who becomes a millionaire wouldn’t ) Brook in his prime would have nicked this and I think he’s been a bit more active than Khan, whom IMO doesn’t want this quite as much .
Brook to stop a gassed Khan 8/9 round

Doing well with my bets today (had Clarets to win at 5/1 amongst others) so decided to have a bet on this. I'm not a big boxing follower (unlike my dad and my son) and dont usually bet on this sport but I've gone for Brook, round 8.
I appreciate that both are past their best but there's always an attraction in a grudge match in any sport- even for part-time followers of the sport like me. I think there'll be a few counts in the fight.

Noticed this too. You definitely hear it a bit more in punditry in American sports. Could be that the vocabulary has been imported from the big US PPV's and been absorbed by UK broadcasters in a sort of unconscious attempt to affect the glamour and razzmatazz of Vegas superfights and playoff season excitement in other US sports. My theory is that in using the future/the weird tense, opinions come across as being more declarative, thus coming across as more confident, thus coming across as more knowledgeable.
