For any info ahead of game at Brentford other than tickets and coach travel

After a bit of info for travelling down to this after the great information I got for the Palace game.

Current plan is to park at Springbridge multi storey just next to Ealing Broadway station, not too far from the M40 and £3 parking all day Saturday. Tube to Chiswick Park and then a short walk to the ground. Found some away pubs courtesy of awaygames.co.uk - The Pilot which is on the way from the tube to the ground, and then Express Tavern and/or One Over the Ait which are next to the ground.

Does anybody have any better ideas or suggestions?

Anyone considering the Chiltern Line for any part of the journey be aware that it is subject to maintenance work that day and services will be cancelled along much of the line.

A pub which has been recommended to me is the "Bell and Crown", Strand on the Green.
It overlooks the Thames and is 5/10 minutes walk from the ground.

jjjack - appears to be a replacement bus service on March 12th on the District line between Ealing Broadway and Chiswick Park.

Any London clarets got any tips for the best tube option from Central London or is it best to get the train from Waterloo ?

Just mindful that there may be a big queue afterwards to get back via rail.

I work in Brentford and regularly use the Piccadilly line either from central London or from Heathrow.

You could get off at Acton or Northfields and it’s a 10/15 min walk to the ground.

Acton Town,Northfields or even Gunnersbury is another option.

Never really looked at the new stadium before. Wow, they certainly squeezed that in!! They’ve gone from a pub on every corner, to completely surrounded by railway lines.

I'm staying at the Premier Inn at Greenford on the A40. 10 minutes from Perivale underground station and i was looking at the tube to Acton Town or Chiswick Park..2 changes to get there via Ealing Broadway but not so sure now I've seen there is a replacement bus service for the last leg. Not sure what other options I have other than the bus though.

Best boozer in Brentford by some way has to be the Black Dog. Was staying in the area a couple of years back for a friend's birthday and found it by accident. Cracking pub.

Was nearer to Griffin Park than the new place, but still worth a visit. 5 cask lines, 14 craft lines, 3 real ciders.

and, other transport links: M4, of course, north of the ground. London north/south circulars pass a couple of blocks to the east. Thames to the south.

We are going via tube from Euston to Victoria on the Victoria line and then change there to get the District Line to Gunnersbury. I think this should avoid any of the bus replacements

From there a short walk to the Express Tavern :-)

If you come early enough, you might even see the players as the away team usually stays at the Clayton Hotel, which is very close to Gunnersbury station.

A few options, we'll probably get the Victoria line down to Victoria and then jump on the district line to Gunnersbury or Kew Gardens. Although people who live down there may know a better way?

I think we are getting to Waterloo and drinking around there before getting overground to Kew.

I've read in several places now that both Gunnersbury and Kew Bridge stations are often shut for an hour for outgoing passengers after the game to prevent overcrowding on the platforms. Just something to factor in.

Another query for those with more knowledge. The best way to pay for transport fares?

There is myself and my daughter who is 12. We are going down on the day and need tube/bus from hotel in zone 4 to the ground and back. The day after we are heading into London for the day before picking the car back up at the hotel and heading home. So i will need decent tickets for 2 days travel.
I've been on the website of TFL and deducted it's best i pay contactless which is capped. However if I don't want to pay full fare for my daughter (which i don't!) i will need to get her an Oyster card...costing me £5 before i put any money on it and then asking for a young visitor discount. Is this the best way?

All the 15 and under tfl rules are on this page.

https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/free-and-disco ... his-page-2

Yes, that is the best way that you suggest at the end. Buy an Oyster card and have the discount applied at a ticket office.

For getting to the ground I'd get the Victoria line (from either Euston or Kings Cross) to Victoria and then the District Line from Victoria to Gunnersby. You're then about a 10 minute walk to the ground. However, that station is shut after the match for an hour if you want a quick getaway. You can walk to Kew Gardens instead which is the next stop down from Gunnersby.

South Ealing, Acton Town and Chiswick Park will all be closed due to engineering works so there's no Piccadilly line and only the District line on the branch that goes through Gunnersby and Kew Gardens.

There's Kew Bridge and Brentford which are national rail stations (to Waterloo I think). Queues at Kew Bridge are meant to be a bit of a nightmare after the match. Brentford is the stop before it so should be quieter.

We are driving down and had planned to park at Hillingdon as we do for all the West London games. I was just doing some checking on timings last night and found it's all replacement bus services.

England play Ireland at Twickenham, 16:45 Saturday. Trains from Waterloo to Twickenham (all via Richmond) will be busy from lunchtime onwards. Mentioning for anyone planning on looking for alternative route to Brentford aiming to by-pass the district line and piccadilly line closures. District line and/or overground from Richmond may be an option to get to Gunnersbury (2 stops) or Kew Gardens (1 stop and slightly longer walk).

Do not try and sit down unless you are under 5 ft - there is very little legroom in Brentford's stadium

It is looking like getting away from the ground for those travelling by train could be a bit of a nightmare, good job our train back from Euston is at 7:30!

Most of the stations seem to be closed for the weekend with Gunnersbury closed for an hour after the final whistle so could be a little chaotic

Good luck to all who are travelling

Hopefully there won't be any alcohol available.

For some reason at away grounds I always seem to end up queuing for ages to pay some extortionate price for a pint of warm gnats pee :?

I've always assumed that Burnley get the info for away fans from the home club. It could be that they asked Brentford for the info plenty of time before the game, but haven't gone back to ask has anything changed in the last week...

I'd always put out the info as (1) here's a link to the stadium's away fans travel details and (2) recommend you check again before setting off in case anything has changed.
