Harvey Barnes was the difference tonight.

Post by Jamesy » Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:45 pm

Two good substitutions from Rodgers tonight and two good goals. However, Harvey Barnes was the stand out player in my opinion. We will have to take this on the chin and regroup for Chelsea. It wasn’t our best performance tonight and they definitely looked a yard sharper. It wouldn’t surprise me though if we got at least a point on Saturday.

He’s a very very good footballer. So direct. To be fair to Roberts he’s been up against Zaha and Barnes in two games, both incredibly dangerous.

Never known an opposition player so overrated by our fans. He’s scored a couple against us in the past and done alright, but compared to some of the players we come up against on a weekly basis he is nothing. Salah doesn’t get as much hype on here!!!

Overrated? He's absolutely torn us apart every time he's played against us

Very exciting, talented player.

Should be getting a chance with England.

You would have some player if you combined the strengths of mcneil and Barnes together

He’s done alright against us but I’m saying he’s nothing compared to a lot of the players at big 6 clubs who we never seem to fear so much.

Well salah is one of the best players in the world, and I'm not saying he's near that level. But he's a fine premier league player that wouldn't look out of place in the England squad.

Ndidi was Leicester's best player for me. Dominated the midfield forcing us to go long.

Not taking anything away from Barnes because he is a good player. The difference tonight though was Vardy and Madison coming on for the last 10 mins. Despite Barnes' good play a 0-0 result looked likely until then

Yes HB is a superb player, always looks relaxed and makes it look easy. We were overrun in the middle most of the game, certainly first half, Cornet looked out of his depth at times1. We never really got going. Have to agree their two subs just sent them up a gear. We missed Ben second half.

I wish McNeil, who lost his man early on when they nearly scored, but did contribute later, was as effective as Barnes was tonight.

I thought he was outstanding and had Roberts on toast all night. Very good player and will probably be snapped up by one of the big money clubs.

I'd say Vardy was the difference. We'd probably have got a draw if he had still been absent.

I wouldn’t say Harvey was the difference!
9 shots for Burnley (at home) 22 for Leicester
They were the better team tonight!!

Barnes looked class to be fair. I actually thought their midfielder, number 25, was the best player on the pitch. He totally dominated our midfield and seemed to win everything. Was it Ndidi?

Dwight McNeil is our equivalent and it shows the gulf between a player with skill and pace and a player with skill.

Very underestimated player-yes it was Ndidi. Can play well at CH too. Yesterday he protected the two CH's

Barnes, Ndidi and Dewsbury-Hall dictated the midfield. Barnes was terrific.

He didn't need to. But one thing for sure McNeils tracking back leaves a lot to be desired compared for example to Lennon.

McNeil doesn't need to be as quick as Barnes.

Look at the cross he put in for Jay-Rod against Spurs. Give him that space and his crossing ability is top class. That's why in a better tam than ours he would look a far better player.

People under estimate how good he is, simply because he plays in a more defensive framework.

I'm fairly sure the stats would suggest that McNeil's defensive work is better than Lennon's

Harvey Barnes was an excellent player last night and should play for England one day

But it was 0 - 0 when Maddison and Vardy came on

They, unfortunately, were the difference
