A game of two halves. Thought we played really well first half but then Chelsea hardly even stepped up a gear to score 4 in the 2nd. Poor. Why Cork has suddenly disappeared from midfield I’m not sure.

I'm not going to rate until tomorrow because I'm fuming.

That was the worst defensive performance I've seen under Dyche (I missed the Everton Boxing Day defeat) and I'm fuming. It felt like watching under Laws or the dying days of Stan's regime.

Very unlike us and hope it's resolved immediately.

Pope 5 nothing to do other than pick the ball out of the net
Roberts 5 some ok bits going forward , lost his position a bit
Taylor 5
Tarkowski 5
Collins 5
Brownhill 5
Westwood 4
Lennon 6
Rodriguez 5
Weghorst 5
McNeil 3 worst game I've see him play, once again chose the wrong option every time in the final 3rd. Not sure what he was doing with his 2 clear chances, it was Sunday league stuff.
As for Chelsea 1st goal, lazy half arsed defending.
He is hampering us now, om not sure what he's bringing to the party

Cornet 6

It was a free hit today, and but for some poor options taken in the final 3rd should/ could have been 1 up.
But deary me finishing abd then defending like that will be punished in the championship.
Horrible watch that first 25 minutes of the 2nd half

Decent showing 1st half and SHOULD have been 2 or even 3 up and then :

Pope 5
Taylor 5
Roberts 6
Tarks 4
Collins 4
Mc neil 3 - cost us the game first with the open net and then can't be arsed defending
Westwood 3
Brownhill 3
Lennon 4
Jay 3
WW 4

Barnes 3 - can't believe he is still an option - give the young lad a run
Cornet 4

Must win next week now

We were incredibly passive in the first half but they didn’t create anything at all and we actually should have been winning but for some awful final third play from McNeil.

Second half was just laughable and then body language was inexcusable.

Too many Dyche games end with Burnley 0. Dire stuff. I’ve yet to see us win at home in person this season and the last 3 results I’ve attended 0-0 0-2 0-4. Whilst this level of opposition is excellent we look clueless at times.

Well that was as shambolic as it gets (I hope) unfortunately the players who we know aren`t premier league standard were woeful and the ones who I would consider average at this level were way off the mark, Westwood was crap on Tuesday but even though Cork who has been playing well and had a weeks rest was left out, poor poor management and it appears he has dragged Brownhill down to his level as well, as for McNeill well enough said sorry mate it`s no good having ability if your to lazy to use it.
Dyche and his team Woan and Stone 3 ( 1 each) Chelsea struggled to break us down 1st half and in truth couldn`t really have complained at going 2 possibly 3 down but their management team obviously identified their problems and our weaknesses and boy did they exploit it, and our teams response after much behind the hand chatter take off Jay who at least had been putting the effort in for Cornet and so the circus continued culminating in some of the most inept defending I have witnessed in a long time, the system needed tweaking as well but as we are all aware SD and his merry men are tactically inept in that department. Tarks is probably going at the end of the season but we should break the bank to keep Mee, for my money he is more important to our team than Dyche.

Pope 5 nowt to do except return the ball for ko
Roberts 5 good 1st half
Taylor 5 ok first
Collins 5decent 1st
Tarkowski 4 not his day at all
Lennon 7 our 1st half outlet great crosses MOM
McNeil 3 ruddy awful
Westwood 4 it’s bad when we need Cork back
Brownhill 6 energy never gave up
Weghorst 5 ok hard gig
Rodriguez 5 tough gig

Cornet 6 lively

Good 1st half and 10 mins of pure hell ( Chelsea quality ) These aren’t the teams our season will be judged on

Pope 5
Roberts 5
Taylor 4
Tarkowski 4
Collins 4
Westwood 3 (how is he back in the team?)
Lennon 5
McNeil 4
Brownhill 4
Weghorst 4
Jay Rod 4

Great first half followed by 7 absolute dismal minutes with some real half hearted defending down our left. Yes they are one of the best teams in the world but that second half was a million miles away from the Utd, Liverpool and Spurs performances. Huge game next week.

Some staggering scores on here. We’ve just been given a footballing lesson in the second half by the European and World Club champions who left players on the bench with combined values more than our entire squad - how about a little bit of perspective?

Pope - 6

Roberts - 6
Tarks - 5
Collins - 5
Taylor - 5

Lennon - 8*
Brownhill - 6
Westwood - 4
McNeil - 6

Weghorst - 5
Jay - 6

Cornet - 6

Great effort first half and should have gone in front no question.

From my memory, 4 shots on target second half, 4 goals. They stepped up a gear and we couldn’t handle their pace, movement or skill levels. What was the comment Stan made once about having a mini trying to beat a Ferrari?

Dwight getting grief from the stands isn’t really helping - he is at least showing for the ball which is more than most.

Last two games we’ve played 10 yards deeper, front two completely isolated second half. Westwood has been appalling both games, needs Cork back in to bring some composure on the ball back into the side.

Our Cup Final Saturday - I genuinely think they will pick 3 points up

The classic game of 2 halves as we may have had far less possession than Chelsea first half, but we definitely did more with what we had and absolutely SHOULD have been leading. Chelsea looked sluggish and off the pace, but 9 minutes into the second half we we're 3-0 down!!! I honestly felt the first goal was slightly fortuitous with a couple of lucky ricochetes in midfield before a hit and hope for the best type of finish. After that we fell apart with awful defending and that's what's very, very worrying going forward.

I thought we superb first half and should have been 2 up. The 2nd half 8 or 9 mins we were not at the races. Then we kept going.

Hard to see why Jay Rodriguez was subbed and not McNeil.

Give it a rest eh?

Mad five minutes in which we were terrible, and a very clinical side finished us off

But you can't miss the chances we had first half and expect to get a result

McNeil did well, doesn't hide, but he's the one the crowd are focusing on, which is going to be a huge relief for the other 10 players on the pitch, none of whom particularly covered themselves in glory today

But its on to the next game and we will see

Higher marks than the second half felt like as the majority had a good first half

Pope 5
Roberts 4 - Sorry but, Lowton is a better player.
Tarkowski 4
Collins 4
Taylor 4
Westwood 3 - Offered nothing
Brownhill 6 - Misses Cork but at least gets about the pitch
McNeil 6 - I think the ratings are harsh. He carried the ball well and was our biggest threat throughout. Yes, he missed a sitter, and yes, at times (especially after the first goal) his tracking back was questionable at the very least, but he offered a lot going forwards…just my opinion!
Lennon 7 - Man of the Match - Our best player, again. Workrate exceptional, never gives up.
Weghorst 5
Rodriguez 5

Cornet 6 - Looked very bright and more like we knew him pre AFCON.

My word did we miss Mee today, and my god are there some folk looking for scapegoats and finding them in all the wrong places.

Pope - 5 - very little to do other than picking the ball out of the net, and should have done loads better with the second goal which he appeared to misjudge.

Roberts - 4 - unconvincing in either half and badly at fault for misjudging the cross for the second and allowing a completely free header, and both the 4th goal, plus the chance Taylor cleared off the line in the first half, were a result of his failure to stop the cross and I thought his defending in the lead up to the third goal, and when the cross came in, left a lot to be desired. His distribution wasn’t great either.

Taylor - 5 decent enough in the first half, but badly at fault for failing to help McNeil for the opening goal, and all over the place for the third.

Collins - 5 - a little shaky in possession in the first half but ok defensively, but badly exposed as the rookie he is in the second half. Should have scored with a free header from a corner.

Tarkowski - 5 solid in the first half but didn’t do enough to stop the cross for the second goal, or block the first goal, completely at fault for the 4th and pretty average for the third.

Brownhill - 7 - excellent in the first half and kept going better than most of this teammates in the second half.

Westwood - 6 - had a pretty good first half, and I’m not sure too much fault for the goals can be ascribed to any of the midfield. Had a right to expect more from his back 4.

Lennon - 7 - really bright in the first half delivered a couple of excellent crosses, laid one one on a plate for Weghorst and generally caused Rudiger all manner of trouble. Diligent enough after the break but rarely able to influence the game again.

McNeil - 6 - bright in the first half produced a couple of wicked crosses and should have scored, but his confidence in front of goal is clearly lacking and once he snatched at a very good chance (but not a sitter - look at the position of the defenders) and once he got caught between shooting and passing when well placed. Might have done better for the first goal but then he’s not a left back, and generally I found it hard to fathom the opprobrium from the crowd for the player who at 3 and 4 nil was braver than any other in getting on the ball, despite his struggles in front of goal.

Rodriguez- 6 - lively enough in the first half in giving us a platform and won a couple of headers around the box but didn’t ever particularly look like scoring.

Weghorst - 6 - sumptuous ball to put Dwight away, but had one gilt edged chance that you’d expect a player of his calibre to take, but he could only hit the player on the line.

Cornet - 6 - looked sharp initially but at 3-0 down he was always going to struggle to maintain it.

A really disappointing outcome. The first half was very good - tight, disciplined, loads of hard work across the pitch and positive when we either got the ball or a chance to press high, and Lennon in particular was a constant menace, well backed up by McNeil. But if you miss 3 golden chances and a couple of other presentable ones as we did against Chelsea, you always fear you’ll pay the penalty - and we did, alarmingly, when a defence deprived of Mee’s leadership and organisation looked all at sea against a more purposeful Chelsea attack. Blaming the midfield, or creative players misses the point - for all 4 goals we had the situation under control and the back 4 caved to allow the softest of goals. That’s uncharacteristic and we can only hope he’s back next week because if we’re that soft next week Brentford will also take advantage - and if that happens we really will be staring down the barrel.

Strange game. I thought we played pretty well first half and could have been in front at half time. That said, the second half was dire, and we were duly punished for it by a good Chelsea side.

Big game at Brentford next Saturday.

Hard to see why Jay Rodriguez was subbed and not McNeil.
Firstly -because Jay did ok I’m the first half but wasn’t getting much joy in the second.

And secondly, because the manager isn’t just thinking about today’s game given it had gone, and so was probably thinking it was important he backed a player who was clearly trying very hard despite his confidence being a little low in some respects. There’s a lesson for quite a lot of us there.

Pope 6
Roberts 5
Collins 5 - when he’s played has been defensively solid. Not today - he also struggles playing out from the back.
Tarkowski 5
Taylor 5
Lennon 8 - easily the best player on the pitch today and fast becoming a fan favourite for his efforts this season.
Brownhill 6
Westwood 4 - Cork is head and shoulders above him, and has to start against Brentford.
McNeil 5 - what is wrong with him? We know he has talent, but he blows hot and cold far too much. And when he makes mistakes you can see his confidence go.
Weghorst 5 - we’re yet to bring the best out of him.
Rodriguez 5
