This star-studded Tarrantino epic aired on Channel 4 last weekend, and it's still available on All 4 for a few more days if you want to watch it, as you might imagine in a QT pic there's plenty of violence. and it is about 3 hours long. so definitely one for the dedicated movie watchers.

Loved this film, not a huge Tarantino fan but for my money it’s his best. I understand this to be a controversial topic of conversation amongst his devotees

One of those films you have to watch a couple of times just to get a grasp of it. Or maybe it is just to see Margot Robbie a bit more.

You want the Wolf of Wall Street for that.
We get to see quite a lot of her....

It's a great film, but QT's best film will always be Pulp Fiction...imo the greatest film ever made.

!!!Spoilers all the way through this post!!!
The scene where Brad Pitt goes into the hippie compound is to my mind probably the highest artistic point of any of QT's films. The meta-narrative is that it's a film about Hollywood, right? DiCaprio's character is making a western. So you're thinking about cowboy films at this point. Tarrantino has Brad Pitt's character enter the hippy compound in his car. The car is his horse. There's a close up of his heels, which are where his spurs would be. He's spinning his car keys around his finger, which is his six-shooter, and it's all staged like a cowboy arriving in town with onlookers staring menacingly. There might be more I'm missing, I've not watched it in a while, but that scene is absolutely beautiful.
Also, there's a really unique take on Chekhov's gun which utilises a slight variation of the "rule of three" seen in films where the first and second iteration of any given thing sets an expectation in your mind only for the third iteration to subvert it. At roughly the end of the first act Brad Pitt goes home to his trailer and feeds his dog. He drops the dog food into the dog bowl, there's a close-up shot, and there's an unrealistically loud *thud* when it lands. Then he dumps another can of dog food in the bowl. Framed the same way. Edited in the same way. Same thud. Seems odd to focus so much on dog food being dropped into a bowl, right? So you think it's just a typical QT idiosyncrasy and you let it fly by without giving it much thought. But without knowing it on your first watch that scene is not only establishing but exaggerating the weight of these cans of dog food, and with this your subconscious has twigged that dog food = heavy. Then this scene pays off in one brief moment in the finale of the film. Then in the finale, during the home invasion, Brad Pitt throws the can of dog food straight into the face of one of Manson's cultist's, and because your subconscious has registered the insane weight of those cans the impact to her face is a thousand times bigger in your mind than it would have been had the weight of those cans of dog food not been exaggerated earlier in the film. It made me wince watching it. It's genius.

The girl who offers Brad Pitt a cigarette dipped in acid at that hippie compound played the daughter of Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill.

Watched this last night, I agree with those above who state it's a great film, and one I'll probably view again in time.
Brilliant portrayal of an ageing star who's career is now on the wane by Di Caprio, but all the performances were en pointe, and the cameos were also memorable, I was particularly impressed by the child actress who played Rick Dalton's co-star, she'll be one to watch out for in the future very natural in front of the cameras.
And for those who haven't yet seen it the ending may well shock you, it certainly surprised me anyway.

It's great for all the reasons above but also the luxuries it takes e.g. just spending time showing driving at super fast speeds around the Hollywood hills for no particular reason other than it looks/sounds cool. Recreating Hollywood Boulevard from the time with ads/restaurants/clothes etc etc etc. An absolute masterpiece in getting across a particular time/place.

Top acting all the way through. Even Brad Pitt's dog should have been nominated for an Oscar.

I personally thought it was dreadful.
No real plot, just randomly following people through a few days/weeks of their lives.

Also my favourite ever film. Even the music playlist to that is incredible.
As for Once Upon a Time, I thought it was decent, some parts you think ‘wtf is happening’ but if you zoom out and ‘get it’ I think the story is sound. Brad Pitt plays my favourite character for sure.

Loved it
Tarantino knows how to write and direct a good film
Pitt and Di Caprio are actors that I didn't like in their youth, but are top notch these days

You are entitled to your opinion but do you know the Charles Manson/Sharon Tate story?
And aren’t 90% of films just a few days or weeks of peoples lives?

Watched this again last night, surprised no one has mentioned Damian Lewis's cameo as Steve McQueen ..he had him down to a tee,and DiCaprio's meltdown at himself in the mirror, one thing is for sure Quentin Tarantino makes great movies.
