Missing him on Sunday morning , Sophie Raworth is so so weak . Rishi is having such an easy time today.

Marr interruptus
He asked a question and interupted the answer about 4 words in.

Agreed about Sophie Raworth
The first 4 questions were 'would you have said what Boris said about Ukraine being like Brexit'.
However insensitive, obnoxious and moronic Johnson might be, what a waste of time pressing Rishi Sunak on that......

Don't know why they chose her when some of the Newsnight crew would have been much more incisive .Marr was a hard act to follow but somebody like Kirsty Wark or Emily Maitliss would have been much better suited for the job .My own choice would have been Nick Robinson .

There's a need for interviewers to be as obnoxious and insensitive as the interviewees. Pity Paxmans no longer arsed about doing it.

To many political journalists etc are trying to make it about themselves now, to aggressive, interrupting all the time, or pointless questions getting vacuous answers to keep in with the party of choice. It should just be here is the question just give an honest answer please after you've had a bit of time to think, have facts at hand to challenge after the answer not halfway through.
There was one journalist can't remember which one banging on to the defence minister asking to know how we are getting weapons to the Ukraine army, like he was going to tell him and the tone was oh you don't know do you not. It was a stupid brain dead question in the first place no doubt posed by a bright young thing with a degree in media studies but nothing else.

Can't watch those two, they are so aggressive and condescending. Have to switch it off, Dan Walker and Sally Nugent are so much better, a joy to watch and Sally is much hotter as well.

Great political commentator/interviewer. A nightmare when he does his ‘histories’ - you risk being ritually (verbally) battered if you quote him as a historical source in academic circles.

If she’s an intellectual light weight the rest are dross.
Since Andrew Neil went there really are no skilled operators. It’s just pure entertainment. Give us the half hour grilling of a minister or MP that soon sorted out the wheat from the chaff, but this generation haven’t got the attention span to cope with that. Little wonder problem solving has become so hard when all they are capable of is chanting irrelevant rhetoric.

The funny thing is that if the interviewers at the BBC - or elsewhere for that matter - gave our useless leaders even half the **** they deserve, half the posters on here would soon be squealing about bias and unfairness......................

Andrew Neil tends to get to the point,he doesn't take prisoners but allows them to speak. I suppose the saying give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves springs to mind.

There is the issue though. If you're interviewing people who have a tenuous, at best, relationship with truth and honesty then it is difficult to carry out an interview in good faith.

The above post shows that education and intelligence are two entirely different things.
No matter how much of the former someone receives, it does
not necessarily improve the latter.....

Exactly. You know, for instance, when a minister opens with "Well, of course, it's only right and proper that...." a torrent of carefully scripted and rehearsed bullcrap is on its way.
Fair play to any interviewer who sees through that and then persists in getting any kind of meaningful answer to their question.

Edward ?
That's fine, Ringsting, you continue to enjoy your minority news/talk shows.
Luckily, as audience figures suggest, there are millions of people bright enough to use the BBC as the go-to station for information.

I used to like Walden, years ago.
He would ask a question, get a full answer, dig deeper and so on.
At the end, he would summarise and everything the interviewee thought they had got awawith, was exposed in brutal black and white, for clarity!
