No surprise really. As I read it, he's not a free agent but just playing for a club who have been suspended.

Blocked due to “sporting integrity”. Ridiculous really, they wouldn’t block us signing a free agent and this deal is allowed under current FIFA/UEFA rules.

PL already facing backlash from fans across social media for this. Wonder if they’ll find a way to let it happen to save face.

Just seen it now, be a decent signing until end of season for right midfield.

Would be an absolutely brilliant signing. And would get the poor lad out of Moscow.

Seems like a shambolic decision to me.

What’s silly is it’s all a lot too late.

Although I can see the logic for allowing it, I fully get the integrity angle, which I actually agree with.

If and it’s a huge if, he were to come in and keep us up, I’d be mightily ****** off if I were a fan of the club that lost out on survival.

You shouldn’t be if it was possible any club that would have signed him would have demonstrated more resourcefulness & ingenuity than the rest that did nothing, there’s nothing stopping anybody signing free agents in normal circumstances albeit with the russian angle it’s not possible, eg if Norwich were to sign a free agent who happened to be instrumental in overturning their fortunes it’d be fair play & the only anger/annoyance would be directed towards our recruitment for not getting in there sooner.

Yet the PL allow a war mongering, head chopping off, dictatorship to bankroll one of our rivals for relegation, that are now steaming away from relegation.

Didn’t FIFA introduce a window for players of Russian and Ukrainian teams to move? If so, why didn’t the PL just state they wouldn’t be participating?

Mystic Cat time....

The PL will change their stance on this, by which time another club (probably Everton) will have offered him a better deal and he'll end up there.

Chelsea allowed to have him as are Arsenel just terms to be worked out. Oh sorry this is fake news or is it (maybe Im just sceptical that if it was one of the big clubs he would be back and playing and the club given plaudits for rescuing a player and humanatirian award given to them)

When the premier league talk about “sporting integrity” what they really mean is they don’t want us to take points if Man city, west ham, spurs and now the biggest club of them all Newcastle.
As others have said if a big 7 club came in for him the premier league would be applauding them for “saving” Moses.
Uefa and fifa allow it, as do the football league if sheffield united have done similar so there is no reason whatsoever for the premier league to block this.

It's maybe just paranoia but I can't help but feel other clubs would have been allowed to sign a player in the same circumstances.

Couldn't they cancel his contract, or, if he really wants to play, he could buy his contract out and he would then be a freeby.

Statement from the Premier League:

“An application from Burnley Football Club to register Victor Moses has been rejected on the grounds of sporting integrity. In making the decision we noted Burnley’s predilection for signing tricenarians and we’re concerned that they will all soon retire within a short window, leaving the club unable to fulfil its fixtures”.

Prem out of order. The player is a free agent, technically and like free agents, entitled to work in his home country.

Employment law should overrule prem ad hoc decision making.

If any of the top teams, there would be a different reaction, as we all know.

Is he technically a free agent though? I thought UEFA had just opened up an emergency transfer window to allow players to leave.

That’s not correct Dave. I’ve just checked the players will still be under contract at there parent Russian football club, there contract will be suspended to allow them to temporarily play for another club.

It’s not as simple as they are just an out of contract player

"The suspension of a contract as per the paragraphs above will mean that players and coaches will be considered “out of contract” until 30 June 2022 and will therefore be at liberty to sign a contract with another club without facing consequences of any kind."
