The winner of the Wales/Scotland/Ukraine play-off path will be drawn in Pot 4 (the weakest one) despite Wales particularly having a much better ranking than such a seeding would suggest.

Bit harsh on all three sides given none of them chose to mount an invasion.

And shock horror, Portugal are seeded in pot 1 when the side that won their group are not.

Pot 1 please (if we get past scotland/Ukraine).

I was thinking Qatar, ranked currently 51st, must be the lowest ever ranked seeded team but it looks like South Africa was lower than that in 2010 when they hosted.

Southgate is a bang average manager, managing a brilliant group of players.

International very different. England have failed spectacularly in the past. Many big egos, media pressure, players not enjoying playing. Southgate changed that completely. I don’t think he’s the best tactician, by a distance, but listen to what every single player says when they go on international breaks now - they love it. That’s the other side of ‘management’, something we should know fully well seen as though it’s arguably been one of Dyche’s strengths, building the culture.

Being an England manager is very different from being a club manager.
He probably would be an club manager a little above SD in style but not as resilient.
But he’s far more flexible than SD who might be good managing Wakes but would be out of his depth with England.
Southgate has done ok with some pretty good players but this World Cup should be one he can win.
Semi finals should be the minimum.
