Hermes have re-branded

They will now be called 'Evri'.

Here's hoping they have changed their working practices. The worst delivery company of all, and in a world that has DHL operating, that's some big claim right there. They can re-brand, but can they REALLY change?

Just seen the ad, where the wonderful driver builds a nice relationship with one of people he delivers to.... in my experience, they can't actually find the delivery address so she's done really well there.

Anyone else had a few shockingly bad experiences with Hermes?

Thankfully I used to deliver up here in the North East Bob, I like to think I did my best and ALWAYS treated Customers parcels as I would want mine treated. On a side note there is little wonder that they aren’t the best with the money they pay if I remember right I was getting something like 40p per parcel delivered not great if you only have 10 parcels in a day.

Tbh bobinho I never had a problem with Hermes and I’ve had a couple of deliveries with the rebranded company and had no problems whatsoever, in fact the emails informing me of the latest progress of my parcels have been excellent, hope you experience similar.

I know that they get poor reviews but I’ve always found them to be pretty decent. Now Yodel on the other hand!

Your view (and many others) will be exactly why they are doing it. As you suggest, changing a name will only be a winner if they’ve addressed their issues.

Never had an issue with Hermes despite the negative feedback seen online. Mentioned in the thread but Yodel are by far the absolute worst. We used to use them for work and still receive their monthly newsletters, their aim for this year is to deliver 81% of parcels

I'm sure they have some reyt folk working for them, but my experiences have been so bad, i check how an item is being sent BEFORE i buy it these days... If it says Hermes, i don't buy it at all.

Another shout for Yodel as the worst delivery service. I’ve only experienced non-delivery of a parcel twice and both times Yodel were the couriers. Both times we had to contact the seller because Yodel denied any responsibility. The latest occasion, last week, Yodel posted on tracking that they had delivered to next door but one, but no such delivery was made.

Had a parcel delivered today by Yodel. One of the options was neighbours to avoid so I put don't leave at number 11(next door neighbour). Come home to find they had left with number 11!!!

speak for yourself. My Hermes courier and the two before (same family) were the most reliable trustworthy people I've ever had.

...mind you the ones before them were the least!

I’ve previously advised Yodel that I’m not taking a parcel in for that ungrateful get at number nine!

Had problems with neighbours playing silly bastards before.

A couple broke up - the bloke moved out - he had a parcel come to my house - I went to their house to drop it off because I knew she was home. She didn't answer. I ended up throwing the parcel through the upstairs window.

Neighbours are a ******* waste! Don't accept parcels for anyone. One thign good about Covid is delivery drivers just leave it on the doorstep now.

The Hermes (Evri) driver in Worsthorne has been 1st class for years, contactable & approachable if any issues.

I also had a delivery from Yodel this week & was dreading it but their new system worked as well as any DPD delivery that I've had recently.

This took place on March 18th with quite a fanfare in the national press and trade publications.
However, it remains to be seen if a rebrand can stop the parcels being thrown around, walked on and , as happened to my neighbour, being left in a wheelie bin with all the smelly rubbish.
For what it's worth, they are streets ahead of Royal mail.

If it is the short haired, older chap - he is excellent. Nice guy too

What’s your issue with Royal Mail?

I find them to be fantastic - and if they do messup will genuinely refund you.

Parcelforce is my go to for bigger parcels ; I buy and sell guitars as a side hobby and have had issues with Hermes breaking guitars - even when I’ve had gig bag and bubble wrap to high heaven.

Hermes and Yodel were always known as "over the garden gate" merchants. There was a documentary on Channel 4 a few years ago where one of their drivers managed to land a parcel on the roof of a house. The problem with a lot of the courier companies now is many of their drivers are sub contracted owner/drivers who are paid per parcel delivered, not salaried. So the more parcels they deliver they more they earn. No measure on the quality of delivery, hence the wheelie bin, over the gate/fence, under a car, on the doorstep and on the roof all classed as a successful delivery. My job involves the use of parcel carriers for out of region deliveries and i have used both FedEx and APC as my carrier. Both run a delivery success rate of 97% + which given many deliveries are made to schools with restricted opening hours, is a very reasonable success rate.

DPD are not much better - i recently ordered a new phone to be delivered to my work address. I tracked it and was notified it had been delivered. I checked with the Goods In Supervisor and he said he had not had a DPD delivery. I phoned reception as we sometimes have deliveries there, no sign of my phone. I went onto the website and there was a photograph of my parcel. They had pulled up in the yard, dropped a few parcels onto an empty pallet and driven off. Fortunately i was on the ball enough to get to it before several hundred quids worth of phone went for a walk.

Shame they can’t deliver, by far the worst delivery service around here. Never got a package from them on time. Been waiting three days for them to deliver a sieve. Fancy the new name ain’t going to improve things.

Not a day goes by without someone complaining or asking for the phone number of the local Hermes driver on Social media.

As for Royal Mail. The postie comes in the van and delivers all the mail on the street. Then he goes back to the van and dishes out the parcels. The system seems to work.
