Special mention to Vydra who’s 10 minute cameo won us the game. All of a sudden we have someone to chase balls into the channel. In fact, the 3rd goal came from that, Tarks outside of the foot pass, Vydra running after it to win the throw, then does very well with the assist.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 6 back passes still a concern and always will be
Roberts 4 game him benefit of doubt but not a PL right back
Taylor 7 Big fan and gave his all
Tarkowski 7 solid, the block master
Collins 7 solid enough and extra mark for goal
Lennon 4 tries but no longer up to it and faded badly
Westwood 4 in a good mood so feeling generous
Brownhill 5 meh
Cornet 8 not over rated him because of the goal. Just looked like he actually gave a crap for the first time I can remember.
Jay 6 does what he does
Weghorst 4 good when played to feet or chest but no good in the air. Unfortunately, nine balls out of ten are played there.
Not sure how we won but I'll take it. Needs to be followed up at Norwich big time. Everton were the better team but probably have less confidence than we do and with their run in, we're still in it. We tend to play in spells. More often this season I just can't see us winning but sometimes I can't see us losing like when we went went to Palace. Hopefully this gives us a confidence boost and I'm confident for Sunday!

From TV
We showed more fight and spirit in that match than collectively over the rest of the season
Pope 7
Roberts 5 - Got a roasting but he should learn from it
Tarks 7
Collins 7
Taylor 6 - Great going forward, poor at defending
Cornet - 8 Fantastic. 10 for effort
Brownhill - 6
Westwood - 5 - minus one for the penalty
Lennon - 8 -Another 10 for effort.
Weghourst - 7
Jay - 8
Subs
Vyds - 7
Lowton - 7
McNeil - 6 - don't know if he was on long enough to give him marks

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 7 couple of good saves and cant do anything about a pen.
Roberts 5 not his best game. Looked a little bit slow to react and didn’t commit to getting forward or back.
Collins 6 good goal but I thought today was probably his worst game for us as he’s a talented young cb.
Tarks 9 absolute rock held the defence together tonight. That block!
Taylor 8 hasn’t been at his best recently and wasn’t first half but second half he got back and forwards with conviction and a brilliant assist.
Lennon 7 first half the wingers were the only ones with any real credit, and Lennon was excellent beating men and defending well.
Westwood 4 he’s not right at the moment. I have always supported him but he was unreasonably poor tonight.
Brownhill 6 looked like he was slightly isolated in the middle (because he was) and couldn’t influence the game too much.
Cornet 9 Fantastic goal. Defensively excellent first half on a few occasions and couple of moments of magic second half. That touch!
Weghorst 5 Not his day but we need to utilise him better
Jay rod 7 quiet but excellent last 30 minutes of effort and a nice goal for him.

How Westwood keeps his place is anyones guess. Thought him and Brownhill were very poor tonight and we were lucky that we had the players to get the win from the subs bench.
Collins class finish but a little sloppy giving ball away at back . Lowton stays in for me.
Well done Taylor need to see that a lot more.
Room for improvement but massive win

Pope 7
Roberts 3 - One of the worst 20 mins or so of play I’ve seen off a right back to start the 2nd, he was all over the place
Collins 6 - plus one for goal
Tarkowski 9 - we’d be screwed if he got injured
Taylor 8
Lennon 7

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 6 had a couple of wobbles coming to collect the ball
Roberts 5 great work ethic but his final ball when going forward is more often than not poor
Collins 6 + 1 for goal, but had my heart fluttering a couple of times with poor choices while defending
Tarkowski 8 my mom will be sorely missed when he leaves
Taylor 8 fantastic play for the equaliser
Lennon 7 shame he gave penalty away, put a real shift in
Westwood 6 struggling to find the form from previous seasons
Brownhill. 7 tried to stop them running through our midfield, which was difficult as the game got stretched later in the game
Cornet. 8 finished off a good move for the winner, and put in some great work defensively
Jay Rod 8 you can see what it means to him, playing for the club he loves
Wout 6. Still putting the work in, it’s just not happening for him
Lowts 6 good to have him back
Vyds. 7 great pass to pick out Max for winner, offers something different
Great comeback after the disappointment of the 2 penalties

Roberts 3 - Got sent to the shops by Richarlison time after time. I'd have hooked him after it happened 3x in the first 30 minutes and I said so at the time. Have faith he'll come good for us but was poor going both ways tonight.
Lennon 6
Westwood 4
Brownhill 5
Jay 8
Weghorst 5 Fails to compete for lots of balls that are there to be won. Appreciate he's not a head on a stick but this seems really odd when he has the obvious height advantage.
Cornet 7 +1 for goal and assist - couole of moments of class aside I thought he was very sloppy in possession again. Produced in those moments that mattered though and had a huge smile afterwards which is great to see.
Vydra 7 - We looked miles better with him on the pitch.
Lowton 6 - His shirt again for me.

Pope 7
Roberts 5 tough customer in Richarlson but stuck at it
Collins 7
Tarkowski 9. MoM by a mile
Taylor 8 his best showing since coming back from injury
Lennon 6
Westwood 7 some decent shots on target
Brownhill 6
Cornet 8
Weghorst 6
Jay 7
Lowton 6 (think he qualifies, on at 72 minutes, played until 94th) Good old fashioned full back tackle on opposing winger.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope -6- Couple of good saves. Kicking the usual rubbish and nearly dropped a bollock near the end.
Roberts -4- Just don't see it with him. Offers nothing going forward and stands off defensively.
Tarky -9- Brilliant. Playing on his wrong side. Made tackles, blocks and picked passes. Big job to replace him in summer.
Collins -6- Still learning, but a bit of indecisiveness nearly cost us. Neat finish for goal.
Taylor -7- More like usual. Gives us a better attacking option when he overlaps and gets to the by-line.
Brownhill -6- Nothing amazing, but got around
Westwood -4- Poor for 1st pen as he let Gordon go twice. Panics us in possession and doesn't sit in when needed. He's been good for us no doubt, but time for a change.
Cornet -7- A disciplined performance. Got back in well, and did some nice stuff going forward. A goal and assist. Feel he needs a good run of games without any niggles etc.
Jay -7- Worked hard across the front line and a nice tap in. He's the one at the moment who is trying to link it all together.
Weghorst -5- No lack of effort but really poor today. Never imposed himself on defenders and didn't look after the ball. Not his game with ball being knocked up to him, but looks like he can't get off the floor.
Lowton -7- 1st tackle put Richarlison off the pitch who didn't want to know after that. Better all round than Roberts
Vydra -8- Running in behind caused problems. Did more and created more problems in 10 mins than Weghorst did in 80.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
A triumph for sheer bloody minded guts and determination.
Pope - 7 - not his most secure night, even if it was a tricky night to keep goal, but produced one stunning stop to keep us in the game from Richarlison’s overhead kick.
Roberts - 4 - had a real struggle defensively and looked rushed in possession. A game too far for a player still adjusting to this level.
Taylor- 8 - the player who gave us something of an outlet in the second half and did brilliantly to lay on Radriguez’s goal.
Collins - 5 - took his goal nicely but struggled at his day job - like Roberts he’s still adjusting to the Premier League and pairing the two of them on the right side of our defence was a gamble we were lucky to get away with.
Tarkowski - 10 - dragged the team through with a huge defensive effort, and his play to get Taylor in for the second goal was world class.
Westwood - 5 - too rushed in possession, and too panicked generally, and the penalty was one example of that, although he and Brownhill pressed effectively at times. We just need him to calm down.
Brownhill - 6 - dynamic and got around the park, but his use of the ball was careless at times and he was compromised defensively by a needless early yellow card.
Lennon - 7 - did very well to win the corner for the opening goal and generally carried a threat, even if it wasn’t always matched by end product. A bit unlucky for the penalty, although he generally defended well enough.
Cornet - 8 - a bit wasteful at times but put in a shift and carried a threat, and took the winning goal coolly.
Weghorst - 6 - worked hard and showed some nice touches, but too many of the balls into him weren’t really the service he wants.
Rodriguez- 9 - the service into him wasn’t great but he dragged the team up the pitch at times, won balls he had no real right to win and of course got the equaliser. Perhaps his most complete performance since returning to the c'ub.
Lowton - 8 - clearly should have started, but when he came on he added some nous to our back four, and a little more quality in possession.
Vydra - did ever so well for the goal and gave us an outball we’d really wanted all night.
Dwight - no real opportunity to make an impact.
A cracking, cup style occasion at Turf Moor, in conditions which increasingly began to resemble those from the Spurs cup semi final of 13 years ago and with an atmosphere to match. This was not a particularly assured Burnley performance, and it relied far more on guts and determination than on genuine quality or composure, but this was always a night when the result was everything and moments of real quality and clarity proved the differences. Everton will feel that they did enough to take more from game, particularly in the second half when Pope’s goal led a charmed life, but ultimately a couple of stand out performances from Tarkowski and Rodriguez - playing as though keeping his home town club up really mattered to him - dragged some less assured colleagues with him, and Cornet and Taylor provided the other moments of quality.
To convert this into a great escape will require more composure and quality in possession, and perhaps one or two calmer and wiser heads, but that’s for another day.

For once I’m struggling today. The emotional rollercoaster I went through tonight seems to have clouded a fair bit of the game. However i have to say second half in particular Tarks was absolutely immense.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 5 - not much to do apart from the penalties, which he couldn't do much about, but thought he made a couple of kicks which weren't fantastic and came to claim a couple of balls unconvincingly however a good save from Richarlison.
Roberts 5 - like his energy a lot. However lots of room for improvement defensively, clearly needs to work on his narrowing down of angles and getting tighter to the opposition.
Collins 7 - nice finish for the goal but a couple of slack mistakes this evening. Going to be a very good player though, no doubt.
Tarkowski 9* - that second half performance was unbelievable. Some brilliant blocks even when slightly out of position.
Taylor 7 - defended well and nice to see him get an assist.
Lennon 6 - performed well on the whole but his delivery could have been better and he was a little naive for the penalty, albeit I think it was very, very soft.
Westwood 4 - Gave Everton momentum in the first half I'm afraid. Very poor play indeed to give the penalty away, and some rushed distribution throughout. Not sure he should be starting at the moment despite being an excellent player for us on the whole.
Brownhill 5 - broke the play up well at times but he was also very poor in possession .
Cornet 8 - his understanding of the shape was evidential today, especially in the first half. A great assist and goal along with a cross which really should have been converted early in the second half demonstrated an excellent performance.
Weghorst 6 - worked extremely hard but it is absolutely clear that we need to play into him. He will run channels and try to wi flick ons but that is not his forte.
Jay 7- some nice link play and good to see him on the scoresheet again.
A fantastic 3 points for us overall and this feel like the first time this season we have won a 'big game'. However the goals we conceded in the first half were so unbelievably soft it was untrue and we will need to tighten up if we have any chance of staying I the Premier league of that there is no doubt.

Pope 6 (his kicking showed tonight why the midget Pickford gets picked ahead of him)
Roberts 5 (difficult to judge but Richarlason was the only dangerous Everton player and without him they'd have had absolutely nothing to offer)
Collins 7
Tarks 7
Taylor 8
Westwood 6
Brownhill 7
Lennon 8 (excellent attitude and commitment I can't fault him!)
Cornet 7
Jay 8
Wout 6
Vydra 8
McNeil 6
Lowton 8
Crikey! We started well and were well in control. We scored early and everything was under control. Then we gave 2 clumsy pens away and suddenly a poor team had something to hold on to. Huge, huge credit to us for being second best in footballing terms in the second half, but actually we knew where the net was and got the goals which won it! Brilliant stuff! Now we HAVE to take the momentum into the Norwich game. Otherwise it's our season in a nutshell. One step forward, two steps back! Sunday afternoon will now define our season I feel!

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Not done the ratings all season so won't start now but just a quick one on Tarkowski who was top drawer again tonight, playing on his wrong side - not an easy thing. He's one of the best centre halves in this division and certainly the best I've seen play for Burnley. And despite the whole running his contract down thing, his commitment to the cause cannot be questioned, he's putting it on the line and dragging some of the team with him at times. There are some big clubs who would do well to pick up one of the best free transfers out there this summer. Going to be a huge loss for us.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 6 - few dodgy kicks and a missed punch / high ball calamity but couple of good saves also
Roberts 5 - Generally a poor game and rarely got in a meaningful tackle
Collins 7 - steady game and got into a few good goalscoring positions. Few wobbles or misunderstandings with passes across the back line
Tarkowski 8 - good performance and gave DCL few opportunities.
Taylor 7 - great run for the goal but still not on top form defensively
Lennon 7 - battled hard and had a decent start to each half
Westwood 5 - poor game Im afraid for Ashley. Our centre midfield looked very weak overall
Brownhill 5 - ditto Westwood above (didnt dare make a tackle after early yellow card)
Cornet 7 - looked more up for it tonight and crowned a good game with the winner
Weghorst 6 - battled well especially when ball was played to his feet / chest at least he makes runs and tries to bring others into the game
Jay 7 - good second half and great anticipation for the goal. Just where a striker should be to finish off a move

Roberts 4 - actually breathed a sigh of relief when Lowton came on. He either isn’t ready or isn’t good enough.
Collins 7 - ok
Tarkowski 9 - superb
Taylor 7 - love those rampages forward
Lennon 7 - worked hard
Westwood 4 - what is SD seeing?
Brownhill 6 - worked hard but quality missing, not helped by his partner
Cornet 8 - constantly lively, didn’t always come off but never hid
Weghorst 6 - think he showed flashes but it has to be played to feet…will that ever happen with us?
Rodriguez 8 - thought he was great, all action, good goal
Lowton 7 - far more calming influence at RB, hopefully has that position back now.
Honestly believe with Lowton back in, Cork in for Westwood, the big guns staying fit and the added bonus of Vydra, we will have a serious chance of staying up.

Roberts 5 wrong place, wrong time! Disconnected.
Tarkowski 10 An immaculate performance.
Collins 7
Taylor 7
Lennon 8 super effort front and back.
Westwood 6
Brownhill 6
Cornet 8
Rodriguez 8 "I will not let my home town club go down"
Weghorst 6
Vydra 7
Lowton 7. Pleased to see him come on.
Luckily I don't have to give McNeil a mark!
Magnifico!
