The shot from Westwood at start of 2nd half that looked to be heading in but was deflected wide and he gave a goal kick?

That was NOT a 2-Penalty game.
Sorry Mike, you normally think first, then get it right.
Tonight you got conned into one penalty and were swayed by VAR in the other. Both were soft.
Then there were minor incidents that you would normally have made the right decision. Tonight was not one of your better ones.
Enjoy your retirement Pal, you have been one of the better Refs.

Given he's one of the stronger refs, I'd have expected him to stick with his original (correct) decisions on both penalties. Both were blatant dives. The liner gave the first, despite having a worse view than Dean, so no idea why he went with it. 2nd is equally ridiculous, sure there's contact but it's minimal and certainly not enough for the player to kisbk his legs in the air and flop to the floor like that.
Fortunately both cheats didn't prosper this time.

Would we have been given either of those penalties. So ref has to be very poor for me. That's being polite.

Both were penalties. Westwood is behind the man and gets legs tangled and Lennon kicked the lads foot - he threw himself over but he kicked his foot and that's a pen these days whether we like it or not. Every one of us would have been screaming for those penalties for us.

2nd looked like a Prem pen to me.
If they need a team to be given a leg up...pen. if they don't, then they see it for what it is, a player, having been touched, throwing himself to the ground.
Would Burnley have got that pen? Not in a million years.

They were both penalties ... imagine the derision on here

if the boot was on the other foot and they were not given ... Westies deflected shot that should have a corner the only real error ...
20's across the board ...

Strangely he gave neither penalty. He couldn't have given the first because he was unsighted so took the word of his assistant. Second one, you know once they go to the monitor then it will be changed but England surely couldn't have considered that a clear and obvious error.
Other than that, Dean was excellent overall.

I never rate the ref but he got both the penalties spot on with the assistance of his liner and the technology. Had the liner not given the first one VAR would. He used his cards appropriately and I can’t recall him doing much wrong.

I was surprised at the game and astonished having watched it back that VAR interfered for the second penalty.

Thought it was one of his "poorer" games he's had
Not counting the 2 penalties he gave, there were some odd calls that the made. The 2 handed push on Jays back, the Cornet penalty incident, and letting DCL interfere with Pope's goal kicks
