Has done great things with Everton U18 and U23
IMO we need to freshen up our coaching team and bring in new ideas
Sean needs a new assistant with a proven record at developing youth into fit for first team players
The present incumbents offer little if anything and many successful managers have changed their staff during tenure, even Frergie wasnt afraid to freshen up his coaches.

Hasn't Dyche in the past said players get tired of hearing the same voice?

Dave Unsworth was fantastic for us (an example of Cotterill being able to get players at the click of a button). With us he struck me as a great motivator with the younger members of the team. No surprise he has done well at Everton and for me a future manager with a team, which will enhance his managerial skills. I agree he could freshen up our dated coaching, but its never going to happen with SD there

Unsworth says he’s leaving Everton to look for a managerial role, not a sideways coaching move.

I was told by an Everton fan last week Unsworth and another former Everton player/coach have big court cases coming up, to do with bullying.
Obviously this is all alleged until it comes out in the open but I'm not surprised by him leaving Everton.

It must be strong allegations to be going to court and not just a sacking.

Would be a good addition to our CM
Would offer strength, height - maybe even pace

Most Everton fans will tell you that Unsworth time at the Academy was about him getting results at that to make him look successful yet failing in his prime duty to provide fresh talent for the first team, the belief is that the few that have made it have managed to do so despite his efforts, and have not progressed in the way that was expected of them.

Those type of complaints have been going on for years now

We were chatting really about the under-23s on the night before and then to the disrupted season they've had. Must actually be quite difficult to get the ‘win at all costs’ mentality out of an individual who has been a high level professional sportsperson.

I’ve met Unsworth a few times and found him very personable and down to earth. However, that doesn’t mean he’s good at his job. Will be interesting to see if he can make a fist of it with a league 1/league 2 club,
Assuming that’s where any opportunity to manager would pop up.

But isn't it a case of if the development was up to scratch the results would be good?

I remember watching him play centre half for us at Scunthorpe and I’m yet to find another footballer with a bigger arse than he had. Have no idea about his coaching abilities mind.

one of the issues was making maximum use of 1st team squad players to get results rather than bring young players into the teams - in contrast we tend to play a lot of young players in each of the age groups and avoid playing first squad players in competitive matches for the mast part - I know which I prefer

Did you never see Ronnie Jepson? I remember early 2000s away at Palace giving Razor Ruddock stick for being a salad dodger and then Stan brought Jeppo on. He made Razor look like Peter Crouch...

Not really the point I was making.
I'm not suggesting for one minute that we should be using PL squad members.
I am suggesting that if our player development was closing in on first team squad quality the the results would be positively affected .
