I guess it’s quite easy to see it from both perspectives.

SD offered security the certainty that things could never get that bad.
Mid table Championship mediocrity was perhaps the worst one could envisage.

He was never going to offer huge excitement but he was unlikely to take us to Hades.

Now however we are in as uncertain waters as we’ve been for years.
Nobody quite knows what the owners vision is
Whether we have the finances to cope?
Whether we can survive relegation

You can see why so many fans are aggrieved concerned and dismayed.

But this is Burnley

We’re used to adversity.
We thrive on it.

And so we have to see it as an opportunity

To blood youngsters
To try out different formations
To play to our strengths
To release the talent we have
To break the shackles of negative stereotypical football
To play some exciting football
To get in young ambitious players
To rotate the squad

Yes it’s a course much more thwart with danger
But danger has its excitement

Time to hold tight
Cause it appears we might be on a roller coaster
The question is will we rise to the top or fall to the bottom

Only time will tell
But I fancy it won’t be dull

And that’s exactly what SD’s side had become.

He needed a new challenge
And like it or not we’ve got one.

An opportunity of course, we get fresh ideas and a manager who will develop all our players and not leave them to fester in the U23s

Guess it depends on who we bring in to manage.

Whilst I wasn’t happy to here the news it does open a new chapter. Hopefully it will be good reading. SD has been a fantastic manager for us and it would have been a fairy tale for him to stay forever. It must have been a difficult decision for AP and presumably quite an expensive one I think this shows some ambition by AP. He has taken a gamble that might preserve our PL status. Let’s hope whoever ones in can motivate the team to put in some big performances. Results have not gone for us the last week as they did a month or so ago when Dirty Leeds won a couple in injury time. But I think it is still in our hands. Leicester were dead and buried a few years ago and won 7 out of their last 9. It can be done. UTC

It is what it is. Disaster: remains to be seen.
But if you look at the results over the past two seasons it is not surprising.

None of those managers were put in place with a 200 million debt and in the championship.

neither was Dyche

Writing off this season as we're almost down already, then looking forwards we have to embrace the opportunity a new regime will hopefully provide.

And if we can finally start blooding youngsters through our academy, as well as picking up a few bargain signings, plus drastically reducing the average age of the squad, and perhaps more pertinently our steep wage bill, then the future offers promise.

Of course a lot will depend on who Pace now appoints in Sean's place, but given the priority he appears to give to developing youth it fits that he'd be looking for a more progressive coach who'll buy into this vision.

Whatever anyone thinks about ditching SD it's done now, so we need to move on and get behind the new gaffer whoever that is.
