It’s now up to the players

Post by claretandbluesky » Sat Apr 16, 2022 9:13 am

To put in a shift and show us what they’re capable of.

I think we know they’re capable of more but can they free themselves from the framework and play?

I agree sadly it's been up to the players all season, and they've been found sadly wanting, so what makes anyone think Sean leaving will turn them into world-beaters overnight.

Whatever league we're competing in next season we need a mass clear out, as far too many of this squad are living on past glories, and have offered little for 2 years now.

Time for them to show why they were apparently desperate for Dyche to leave...

Lesser performances from the holy trinity of Pope, Mee and Tarkowski and we'd be down some time ago.

Yes those 3 have been among our better performers, however it's telling that you name 3 defensive players.

Sadly there's every chance that all 3 will be elsewhere next season, and that alone will really hurt us at the back regardless of who the manager is.

Nothing new really.

One significant difference from recent performances will be Ben Mee. If he’s really fit and has even more authority on the pitch, this could both motivate and organise the team to be more effective than they have been for some time without him. None of us really has a clue whether the players will feel more anxious and dispirited or that they have suddenly been given more freedom to express themselves with Ben behind them. We’ll see. !

Reality check time:

The players are shocked and there won't be wholesale changes. Maybe, just maybe, the rumours of mutiny don't have much basis.

Why would they be bothered? the majority are probably not going to be offered another contract. Pride I suppose and yes I get that they would hope to be re employed elsewhere, although the ages of some may be a factor but honestly I do wonder if they really care.

It’s the attitude that will be interesting.

Committed or disinterested.

You would hope they have a point to prove and go about giving the Hammers a tough match, irrespective of the result.

Not expecting a huge change in personnel or framework but a much more positive outlook on the field.

Positive response.
Let’s hope it continues.
