Is there a plan?

Was Dyche sacked with a replacement lined up, or is there now going to be a long, drawn-out process of replacing him?

If there is no plan already in place, I think we can assume we are doomed.

I'm not going to judge the decision until the full picture is revealed...

Going in to a crucial game with junior coaches and a player in charge would suggest not.

Pace will have a replacement lined up don't worry, I read somewhere it's stupid to throw your old shoe's away without buying new one's first

Really?? The timing of it all is very suspect. If we’d of beaten Norwich no one would of been having these conversations. I don’t think he’s got a clue, it’s russian roulette.

I hope the new manager is at the game tomorrow to be honest. They need to see what they’re working with asap.

Clearing out Dyche’s staff would suggest so. A new man will want his own team in. Surprised Billy Mercer has left though as we’ve done very well with our keepers.

We will know by Monday morning.

If we don’t, then it’s been an absolute clusterf**k

Even if we do know, dependent on who it is, it could still be a clusterf**k.

Either way, far too late now….klopp with pep as assistant couldn’t save our season.

I’m thinking they’ve all gone as a unit to support Dyche, makes zero sense to get rid of Mercer, it’s the one area we have been brilliant for 10 years

Yep, he’s managed to turn good keepers into great ones. I would’ve thought he’d survive the cull….. and because he hasn’t that’s making me nervous.

I think the whole back room staff leaving is a clear indication of how events have unfolded.

Lines have been drawn in the sand on both sides and it’s led to the current situation.

If we don’t have someone holding the scarf up on Monday morning we’ll know these awful Yanks haven’t the foggiest what they’re doing. Making it up as they go along.

I’ll give them until noon Monday to show us anything resembling a strategy beyond PR bluster and corporate jargon.

I think there needs to be a new man in by Monday. We have a huge and very winnable game on Thursday. I can’t see how they can go into that without any full preparation.

Surely we must have had someone lined up before Dyche was sacked. If not, this has just been a senseless knee-jerk decision showing a total lack of understanding and respect.

If we don't have a new manager in by the Southampton game, then I think Pace is the " dipstick American " that Owen Slot in today's "Times" suspects he might be.

Maybe there isn't because the sackings were unforseen.
There has been no stories of unrest, no media speculation re the results, apparently no pressure on Dyche, he didn't appear flustered in his interviews, so I would assume the sackings were a quick decision.
If Pace wanted rid of Dyche purely because of results they would have come to a mutual agreement which would have allowed Pace time to plan.

We’re presuming that it wasn’t Dyche who instigated the departure.

If he was told that the club were looking to replace him, or bringing in a director of football for transfers, or another similar situation and been challenged and will have reacted badly and instigated a battle that requires the owners to take action.

He’s an employee, and if he’s openly courted say a new job behind the back of his current employers then quite rightly Pace has taken action.

The manner in which it’s been conducted clearly shows there is acrimonious activities afoot.

The line in the statement “results this season have been disappointing…” is a concern to me.

What did they expect given the lack of on-field investment? Where do they expect Burnley to be in the table, realistically? Who in the their right mind would apply for the job in the current circumstances?

They don’t know what they’re doing.

Fair assessment at this point given there has been no suggestion whatsoever that Dyche instigated it.

Bloody hope so, but what I've seen since Sean's sudden departure makes me wonder.

And bizarrely as dire as our season has been, if we can somehow get a result at West Ham, and Everton draw or lose their game, we could potentially be within touching distance of surviving.

I sincerely hope we see the new manager unveiled on Monday, as he'll need to hit the ground running with the Southampton game looming.

What I am finding strange is the silence.

Unless I have missed it, there has been nothing said (apart from "the official statement" ) by Chairman, SD, Woan or any of the players.

As far as I am aware, it wasn't even mentioned on the You tube commentary for the U21's last night.

I don't mind the silence as long as something is happening quickly behind the scenes.

The fact that our new manager isn't getting announced today rather suggests there isn't one

I'm 100% expecting a knee jerk, keep us up at any cost, BFS appointment within the week, and then depending on what happens, a longer think in the summer for the new Jesus (capable of turning average players into good ones just like that)

To answer to the OP, yes there will be. If you’re genuinely saying a group of businessmen took a decision like this in isolation and didn’t go on to discussion next steps, I think you’re being disingenuous to advance an agenda. How far along and how realistic that plan might be is the more pertinent question and nobody on here knows the answer to that.

Looking at our relegation rivals who potted a manager this season they have all take at least a few days to announce managers. If there’s no clear news by the middle of next week, I’ll accept that “the plan” either hasn’t come off or wasn’t as advanced as we might hope.

There really is no rush. No manager could keep us up. We have the second weakest group of players in the division. The framework was there to try to compensate for that. Except on very rare occasions, as soon as we try to play any differently we concede goals for fun

Ranieri’s reported sacking came on 25 Jan and Hodgson was announced on 28th.

Bielsa’s sacking was announced on Sunday 27th, but had been reported the day before after weeks of speculation. Marsch was appointed on 28th.

As I said, “at least a few days”, but my point was more around the fact that there are people on here that are disingenuously suggesting that the board met and decided to fire Dyche and save the decision on what to do next for a later date.

I’m not saying the plan is a good one or a realistic one, but that’s not the question posed by the OP.

Exactly his record the past year and a half has been beyond diabolical. Anyone with his record wouldn’t have survived.

It’s just the timing which I find strange, should have been potted before January to give us the best chance of survival. Maybe Pace and co were expecting like a lot of fans Sean to pull a rabbit out of the hat and go on a run of results to pull us out of danger. Maybe he’s lost his nerve/panicking and this is the last stand.

From the outside looking in it looks like a non thought out panic move, although I’m very happy with the sackings as things have gone sour for some time with Dyche and his merry band of men.

Have the board got a plan? It doesn’t look like it. Or they would have brought someone in immediately after sacking Dyche.

Its pointless tp post stuff like that

Maybe the shock of the manager going will inspire us to get a result, and maybe the shock of the manager going will mean we really struggle to do the basics

I thinks its far more likely to be the 2nd one sadly, and the longer we go without a manager, the worse it will get

It seems just as disingenuous to say the other clubs around us took a few days to announce a new manager when 2 of the 4 did it the next day.

It might also be pertinent to mention that the reason Everton took so long to appoint someone is that they didn't have a plan when they sacked Benitez.

If we suddenly turn around and we play well and survive I will admit there's been something amiss behind the scenes. I'll be very surprised if that happens.

Ditto us bringing in a manager quickly who will be someone with a bit of pedigree.
