Loughlan and Stone

Potentially could be two of the key figures to explain our demise over the past 18 months.

Loughlan it seems played a huge role in the way we played, results have deteriorated when he left. Was he the brains behind the operation, who knows?

Stone (if you believe certain rumours) is not liked by some of the players at all, and apparently is an extremely arrogant, quite unlikeable man. Perhaps Some evidence of this with his suspension a couple of years ago as U23s manager for ‘bullying’ accusations?

I could be merely speculating without anything to back it up, but perhaps this change within the coaching staff was a significant one?

Stone should’ve gone as soon as the bullying investigation happened, instead he became more prominent in the first team.

No matter who the coaching staff were, none ever had any say, if they did we would have at least tried different formations over Dyches 10 yr stay to enable us to accomodate certain players, injuries to certain players. There is a reason we are where we are, his name isnt Loughlan, Stone or Woan...It is Dyche

Yes, Dyche was the main reason for our incredible achievements.

It wasn’t Stone that had poor relationship with players its was Ian Woan they fell out with regularly. Loughlan’s departure may have been a serous mistake, it appears he was very highly thought of.

Of course he was. Works both ways, but these ideas our downfall was due to Loughlan leaving are ridiculous, like he wasnt the reason for our success.

At times in the championship we played scintillating football, we were just too risk averse in the premier League

And that’s a fact but don’t dare say it on here! Like I said previously, the stories will start coming out

Woan has the look of a man that would start a fight with himself in a public phone box

100% he was the reason for our achievements, unfortunately he is now also to blame for our struggles

Ian woan and Steve Stone are a couple of extremely obnoxious and arrogant egomaniacs who find it very easy to talk to people like they're a piece of s***. Tony Loughlan on the flip side is more easy going and maybe because he never played the game at the same level as the afore mentioned this made him more grounded.
I can quite believe the rumours that the players are glad to see the back of them two.

Woan is a Scouser ,they always like to get their revenge in first and can be very hard to like.

Woan was pretty unpleasant, lacked basic manners and revelled in his role as Dyche’s attack dog. Never came across Stone so couldn’t comment

Never came across either Woan or Loughlan, but I've never heard a good word for Woan but never heard anything but good words for Loughlan. I think that's very telling.

You are right - and that's why we've been a Premier League club for the last six years.

As has probably been said somewhere else - Dyche, Loughlan, Stone and Woan were all together as young players at Forest. As was Roy Keane. Keane and Loughlan worked together at Sunderland and Ipswich and are best friends apparently

Loughlan first teamed up with Dyche at Watford - after Keane left Ipswich - his last managerial position

Don't know how events unfolded at Burnley but assume Loughlan's departure created an opening for Stone

So if they have no say, why did SD spend most of the 90 talking to them? (behind his hand)

Loughlan was working at Leicester when Keane took him to Sunderland. As you say, joined Dyche at Watford along with Woan who was Steve Cotterill’s number two at Portsmouth.

Dyche - Woan - Loughlan, such different characters. Dyche was like the sergeant major in some ways, very much the one in charge. Woan was the typical gobby scouser although he’ll be quick to tell you he’s a woolyback from the other side of the river. Loughlan is a gentleman, so easy to talk to. I bet he’s been a really big miss.

I’ve never spoken to Stone but I’ve been close enough to him often enough when he’s been in the dug out for u23 games and I found his behaviour to be totally unacceptable. He might be a decent bloke but I just didn’t like his touchline behaviour at all.

I was sat close to Michael Jackson this week during the game at Accrington. He was very vocal but also very positive.

Nothing scientific about this but never got a good vibe from either Woan or Stone. While Dyche quite old school in some of his methods, I think he had the sufficient professionalism to get away with it while those two I think would just rub players up the wrong way. Was Stone cleared of the earlier allegations too? I was uncomfortable with the way he was promoted to the position he was.

Dyche old school in his methods? I'd say the absolute opposite.

I think Michael Duff summed him up the best - a modern style manager with old fashioned values.

Worded badly on my part - old school in some of his philosophies, the importance of respect etc. I don’t think his qualities carried through to the back room staff.

No one seems to have anything positive to say about Stone either in his involvement at youth level or the first team.

My lasting impression of Stone will be the moment Dyche called him and Woan off the bench after about 25 minutes during last Sundays Norwich game. SD was obviously looking for feedback from both. You could see Woan having lots to say, I dont know how constructive it was. Stone just chewed gum vigorously, and kept his headphones on just looking up at the sky. Reminded me of one of those half ****** louts you see in a shopping precinct on a Saturday afternoon.Wage stealer

He'd had one hip replacement, needed another and was having a lot of problems because of it all. Dyche said at one point he was struggling with his driving.
