Yes very serious break it looks like foot was at a totally unnatural angle, can see why the wet ham player is so upset

Looks horrendous. Really hope it's not as bad as I'm fearing and he recovers and comes back from it. All the best wishes to him.

It's amazing how well they can recover these days. Hopefully he gets lucky and it's not as bad as it first appears.

It really is a season where swings and roundabouts are broken.
I hope he makes a full recovery ASAP.

, complete ankle rotation and dislocation , if its just that and no break he may only be out six months, The wife did it last year walking across a village green that had just been mowed and hid a rabbit hole which she stepped in….

Looked like they’d got it back in place and secured it on the stretcher

if it’s a clean break he will have an ankle stronger than ever after the recovery period - awful to witness on a football field though.

Shocking injury but he will get the best of treatment. The only crumb of comfort is it is at the end of his career not the start or middle if indeed it is career threatening.
Hope he makes a full recovery.

Sounds like a bad injury Amartey of Leicester got, and thankfully he made a good recovery and now playing well and regularly

Hopefully he makes a full recovery. He was smiling and laughing on the stretcher as he was carried off so hopefully a good sign.

Will be a huge miss despite what many posters say.

It happened in front of where I was sat and it looked horrific. His foot was pointing the opposite direction to his leg. Potential career ending if its as bad as it looked

Given the footage/photos that's astonishing, quite frankly. Ligament damage could set that back a lot further, but especially given his age I had that pegged as a career ender. Here's hoping it's at the milder end of the spectrum.

Hopefully. One of those rare injuries that sicken you the second you see them.

That's bad enough, but rather that than a bad break.
Hopefully not as bad as we all feared, if that's the case.

As someone who broke my ankle but at the time I was in the ambulance on my way to hospital was a suspected dislocation (unfortunately for me it wasn’t) I was told that the main benefits of just a dislocation is the fact that unlike ligaments and muscles you aren’t necessarily going to weaken and create a lifetime of niggly injuries. It’s also a lot quicker recovery as the ligaments and bones will be bruised and just need time to heal and swelling to reduce. Hopefully there is no damage other than that, but I guess we will find out in the next week or so.

Edit: just to absolutely clarify I am not a medical expert and speak only of my experience and what I was told during my care.

These innocuous challenges that give those angulated ankles are often what you call a "fracture dislocation." It is unusual to get the dislocation without the fracture, and it often fractures in 2 or 3 places. It's important to reduce things back into place as soon as its safe to do so, and it would appear that is what has happened here. The bony injury is (relatively) easily fixed, in that you open it up, check the ends align, and screw a plate in. But the soft tissue injury (muscle, ligaments) often takes months to recover from. It's basically physio rehabilitation

The Andres Gomes ankle was a horror, on viewing. Something similar from what I’ve read but he was back much sooner than expected.

Not sure the smiling coming off tells you much.

Probably the gas and air… and the adrenaline. Best wishes to him though, horrible to see and clearly distressing to the players who saw it.
