Let’s hope the update on this that there is nothing doing is true. He’s been here twice before, both times brought in by his mate Jason Blake.

A lucky escape avoiding Keiran Scott.

Mind you, he’d fit the cosmetic approach to improvements that the club specialises in at the moment.

I've completely forgotten/don't know what the issue was with Jason Blake- could someone remind me and provide insight on why people seem wary of this?

I seem to remember reading on here that he pretty much destroyed our youth setup. I dare say you can find out more by putting his name in the search bar (or someone more informed than myself will come along).

Never heard of him.

What was his role at Burnley, over what period and what did he do that means we’ve dodged a bullet if he’s not coming?

I’m assuming he’s built some sort of reputation in the game since whatever his spell with us was.

Just guessing but the link might be Jenkins, who Pace brought in to coach in the academy, being ex boro. They might have worked together and this fella put his name forward?

Not much about him online, other than a few short articles that suggest he scouted for Bournemouth, us and then Wolves, before getting the Head of Recruitment gig at Norwich and then Head of Football at Boro. He’s still only 38 now, so was presumably in his late 20s when Howe brought him in?

Intrigued as to what a young scout could possibly have done to warrant a few of the comments above?

Blake supposedly set the youth set up back years, but unless this guy is rewriting history in the online interviews he’s done, he wasn’t directly involved in the youth set up.

Actually, one article lists him as our lead on 17-21 yo recruitment.

This would be a shocking appointment. It must be a wind up.

Head of academy recruitment for a while. Didn’t get the club, didn’t think the club could compete with the Manchester and Merseyside clubs, didn’t really treat people with respect. Was heavily focused on paperwork.

Is he wrong about the academy competing with Manchester and Merseyside clubs?

Was…. Yes. Don’t know any more. Callum Styles was wanted by Everton, Tyrhys Dolan by Man City, both signed for Burnley, both have had decent Championship level careers. Amongst others who haven’t made it but chose Burnley over those clubs, or for sold / poached later (Bradley Garton being one, think he’s in America now)
