What sort of manager do we want?
Lots of names banded about, some seeming like Laws signings, ie sticking plaster signings.
But what are we looking for in a new manager.
For me.
Young, ambitious, someone who can think outside the box, be flexible, a good knowledge of the UK leagues, not afraid to introduce youngsters.
A man with a plan that he can sell to the fans.
If you like a more daring manager than SD.
Will require a brave board to appoint such a man.
I fear they may be tempted by stability or a big outdated name.
But like we did after SC
We need a man with a very different persona.
We could do with some excitement.
From Roundhead (with all their virtues) to Cavalier ( with all their potential frailties)
We need a change of style and football
For better or worse.

Re: What sort of manager do we want?
someone who doesn't say touch and go would be nice
I would say whoever comes in would need to have good contacts either abroad or very good ones here. We aren't going to throw silly money about so it will require cheap buys and loans imho

Re: What sort of manager do we want?
I'd go with good knowledge of football around the globe. We shouldn't confine ourselves to UK leagues. We need to be looking for players from Europe, Africa, North and South America and Asia. Football is the beautiful game, let's go with someone who can help Burnley to play this beautiful game - and 3 points at all cost!claretandbluesky wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 5:05 pmLots of names banded about, some seeming like Laws signings, ie sticking plaster signings.

Re: What sort of manager do we want?
Someone with knowledge of overseas leagues/ players/ contacts
Someone who can change tactics according to the team we are playing and mid game
Someone who can play different styles
Someone who can help younger players improve
Someone who can be successful and preferably with a track record of success
Someone who doesn’t make the same excuses over and over and who is honest

Someone who can perform all the requirements of a modern manager, and someone with an eye for talent. Not just someone who puts a team out and attends post and pre match conferences

Don’t know about the mates bit, but using the loan market has to be part of the way forward.
Re: What sort of manager do we want?
Someone who will get us promoted if we go down and able to keep us in the premier league for a few years would be nice.

Re: What sort of manager do we want?
Haven’t seen his name mentioned Salisbury.
Would be a Laws signing
With the board failing to read the room.

Re: What sort of manager do we want?
Someone who doesn't promote cynical dirty play (Allardyce, Poyet, Bielsa at times) or diving and cheating (too many to name).
Someone who doesn't throw Klopp/Mourinho style tantrums.
I really don't care if other fans dislike our football or find it too defensive, boring etc. I'd far rather we be called dull than cheats, and am more proud of a team that plays fair than plays pretty.

This will be the dinosaur you were against from day one, even though he proved you wrong time and time again!SkiptonClaret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 21, 2022 6:01 pmTherein lies the reason why we needed to pot the dinosaur.
