Don’t like Jack backing into the keeper on corners🙈can just see us getting pulled for it if we score🤔please just don’t do it.

Agree, it has been a tactic employed by several clubs in the past, but officials now differentiate between a player who is just standing in the way and one who actively prevents the goalkeeper from attempting to play the ball. Jack often falls wrong side of that distinction.

Just as the ball was being crossed for our second goal Forster shoved Cork out of the way . Think a penalty would have given before the offside that was appealed for.
In the second half it happened again but instead of awarding a penalty the ref had a word with Forster. He didn’t shove Cork again. Nothing wrong with standing your ground

See above - and no standing ground is different than active ‘obstruction’. Watching the game back against Southampton I noticed the ‘expert’ (former Wolves striker, name fails me) commentator, when a Southampton player deliberately led on the ball when he lost control, “that’s not a foul” - DEAD WRONG, not only was it a foul, deliberate obstruction of the ball has ALWAYS been a foul.

I wouldn't trust most co-commentators (ie [ex]players) to know the actual rules. They just know what they could get away with

However, they were awarded the free kick! I can only think that it was because our lads tried to extricate the ball and, in these modern times, would have been deemed to be 'endangering their opponent' or using 'excessive force' ---the game has gone soft!

Where they, could not remember which way it was given… I think I was in shock an ex-pro could be so ignorant of a age old BASIC rule of the game.

I always have the sound muted when I watch games on TV ----enjoy them much more without the inane mumblings of whoever.

Same here, wish they still had the "crowd noise" only option

As a goalkeeper I'm all for being able to push everyone out if the way to get to the ball. If you're in the six yard box expect to get clattered...

I wonder if his absence has been an important factor in our reduced affectiveness at corners?

For backing into the keeper, see standing his ground.

No problem, no foul.

Unless he costs us for offside cos he didn't clear out quick enough.

Wardy did it for years for us. Goalkeepers get far too protected nowadays.

I liked the corner we used against Everton a while back. We stood a player behind Pickford then played the corner over the top to the far post. Wood headed it in but because the ball had gone over our other player he had committed no foul by standing his ground.
Sweet, we should use it more often.
