It’s going to cost us.

Don’t like Jack backing into the keeper on corners
can just see us getting pulled for it if we score
please just don’t do it.

Agree, it has been a tactic employed by several clubs in the past, but officials now differentiate between a player who is just standing in the way and one who actively prevents the goalkeeper from attempting to play the ball. Jack often falls wrong side of that distinction.newchurchbfc wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 6:55 pmDon’t like Jack backing into the keeper on cornerscan just see us getting pulled for it if we score

See above - and no standing ground is different than active ‘obstruction’. Watching the game back against Southampton I noticed the ‘expert’ (former Wolves striker, name fails me) commentator, when a Southampton player deliberately led on the ball when he lost control, “that’s not a foul” - DEAD WRONG, not only was it a foul, deliberate obstruction of the ball has ALWAYS been a foul.Joe Buck wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:24 pmJust as the ball was being crossed for our second goal Forster shoved Cork out of the way . Think a penalty would have given before the offside that was appealed for.
In the second half it happened again but instead of awarding a penalty the ref had a word with Forster. He didn’t shove Cork again. Nothing wrong with standing your ground
However, they were awarded the free kick! I can only think that it was because our lads tried to extricate the ball and, in these modern times, would have been deemed to be 'endangering their opponent' or using 'excessive force' ---the game has gone soft!elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:32 pmSee above - and no standing ground is different than active ‘obstruction’. Where they, could not remember which way it was given… I think I was in shock an ex-pro could be so ignorant of a age old BASIC rule of the game.Ashingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:55 pmHowever, they were awarded the free kick! I always have the sound muted when I watch games on TV ----enjoy them much more without the inane mumblings of whoever.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:59 pmWhere they, could not remember which way it was given… I think I was in shock an ex-pro could be so ignorant of a age old BASIC rule of the game.
Same here, wish they still had the "crowd noise" only optionAshingtonclaret46 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 8:32 pmI always have the sound muted when I watch games on TV ----enjoy them much more without the inane mumblings of whoever.
