Don’t know, but if I translates into them not turning up on the final day of the season then fantastic!

Probably because most football fans can’t stand Richarluson!!

I believe there was some kind of beef between the fan bases surrounding the newcastle takeover.

After Thursday I had talksport (yes I know) in for the journey back over the Pennines and they were talking Liverpool. This scouser rings up and said no way are we (pool) doing the quadruple, not the treble or even double. He then went on to say they were doing the quintet - all four trophies and Everton going down now Burnley were starting to get results!!!!

Agree about Richarlison (or mattress as he spends most of his time on his back) but I suspect that the Geordies would prefer us to stay up rather than Everton as they would see us as more likely to struggle next year than the Toffees.

When i was a kid we got a lot of good young players from the newcastle area and i have spoken to quite a few older geordies who said burnley are their 2nd team because of this so maybe its a case of not hating everton but having a soft spot for the clarets!

No idea why they dislike them so much but they commonly refer to Everton as the Scouse Maccam's.

I doubt that , and anyone who went to Hillsborough would agree .

It’s a shame Eddie is a Everton fan otherwise I’d have fancied Newcastle “pragmatically” getting Everton out of the league for a year on the last day, to give them an easier run at the top 7. I can’t see Eddie doing it though even though he’ll still feel fondly about us too.

Apparently they see Everton as having a chip on their shoulder and there's also the Pickford / Sunderland connection as well as them feeling Everton treated Rafa badly. Newcastle fans hold Rafa in extremely high regard - for his integrity as much as for his abilities as a manager.

Two sets of entitled **** fans of **** clubs.

Never got over Big Dunc signing for them.

I read also that Everton fielded a much weakened team with no tactics to lose on the final day of the season which relegated them last time.

Aye, Newcastle were battling with Sunderland to avoid the drop in 2016, and the Mackems were practically handed a 3-0 victory by Everton in the final game of the season.

No chance. Still have a (faint) chance of survival and they have a manager with far too much integrity.

As a Newcastle fan there's a few things at play;

1. We see each other as among that group of clubs that are kind of 'best of the rest' in terms of the endlessly tedious Big Club debate. And as such we're suddenly rivals (same with Spurs, Villa etc.)
2. They think we've an inflated sense of our own importance and they think we're adored by the media when they're not (I can understand this to be fair, for the past 10yrs we've been a pretty nothing PL/Championship team and have been on tv more than most outside the elite clubs).
3. We see them as the bitter little brother of Liverpool, who brag about away attendances, or historical trophies, or classiness. Much in the same way as our local rivals do.

There's been a few games where they've left one in on our players (Shearer, Cabaye, Ben Arfa spring to mind) in fairly inconsequential games.

Once you add all that to the general impression of scousers of being overly boastful about their city (they invented music, comedy and football don'tcha know?) and there's a clear antipathy.

Our last game of the season is going to be extremely interesting if our Premier League survival is at stake,does Eddie still have enough good friends at the Turf that he would throw the game....?
