Cheat, no other word for it. He did exactly the same against us and won a penalty.

Exactly my thoughts.
Initiating the contact for one. I hate that trailing leg routine.
The other really was close but his actions were not matching where is body should have gone if it really had been a foul. I know that these days we can dive if we've been touched but it was soft. I wouldn't have given it but I can see them being given.

In the interest of fairness, it was Everton’s Vitaliy Mykolenko, who won the ‘trailing leg’ penalty, against Burnley

Caused Liverpool problems today. Looks like a good player, but needs to cut out the cheating.

No time for cheats. It often works in this league we know that. But how can anyone let their kids watch that?
That Everton game against us was something like the first time in PL history an away side has scored 2 pens in the 1st half. Never been happier to get the win.
If they had stayed up through good honest play I’ll applaud them, but that ship has sailed. We have to stay strong and send them down.

You are incorrect John, the penalty JimmyRobbo is referring to is the one similar to today where Gordon feels the presence of a defender (in our case Westwood resting an arm on his shoulder) and he then lets his legs go to sleep, this gives the impression that the contact was caused by the defender and not him initiating contact by trailing his leg behind himself so the opposition player runs into it. He did something similar at Goodison on Sky against either Newcastle or Man City.
The foul by Lennon on Mykolenko was theatrical but a penalty imo.

Hate diving even more when we do it and we can't claim to be innocent.
Refs need to book players for diving and start awarding fouls even when fouled player doesn't hit the deck. Could feasibly stamp diving out with such an approach.

He is a filthy cheat out and out, I said at the time he left his leg to get tangled up for the firsr peno at the Turf and he won one.
He tried it against Man U but not given and again today. He is a cheat, hope he enjoys Blackpool in December.

He’s a really good player Gordon but he is up there as one of the worst divers in the league.
It’s a shame because his natural talent is being marred by the cheating

Best part was when he came out after saying both were penalties and both had contact…the first, nobody touched him and the second he thinks he’s being clever stepping across Matip then going down like he’d been shot.
Cracking player but he needs to stamp this side of his game out, blatant cheating and the refs soon pick up on it.
Frank then saying the top clubs get the decisions, welcome to our world pal.

Good player
First one - clear dive
Second one - well, we've seen them given and it was a silly challenge from Matip
Everton sat back and tried to frustrate, relying on a 1st time Merseyside Derby official to be a bit cautious with the cards, and they were getting away with it till Klopp made the changes
Everton looked up for the fight, but we really just have to aim for that 40 points and see how close we can get to it
But I'll say again, if we can beat Watford, we are five points ahead of them when they play Chelsea at home, and if they concede early there, that crowd will turn, and turn fast

He bought a penalty against us. That said I felt yesterdays was a penalty but I think Attwell might have been influenced by the dive for which he got booked. I couldn't understand why VAR didn't look at it.

Absolutely spot on.
There last three games are quite good for them. So we need to get as many points ahead of them as possible before they hit that run in.
I have a feeling it could come down to the newcastle game to decide it.

Agree. We’ve had a great week but we really need to maintain the momentum and get points on the board. Our away games at Villa and Spurs are tough. I find it hard to see us winning either.

We need to win at Watford certainly, and points on the board are crucial, I wouldn't rule us out of picking something up at Spurs or Villa, both are inconsistent, and we appear to have turned the corner now.
Regarding Gordon cracking young player, but he needs to cut out the blatant cheating, mind you Dwight also dived the other week so we can't call others out when we're also guilty.

I think most of the football world right now would like to see Everton drop. Gordon and the odious Richarlisson are both out and out cheats. This coupled with the bleating out of his depth Lampard is the perfect storm for me right now.
We just need to take care of our business for the remaining games and hopefully get at least another 7 points.

Jamie Vardy mark II
A blatant cheat. I've seen him in five games now and he's dived in every single one

If he was my son I would be saying to him, look you’re a talented footballer with plenty of potential, you’ve enough pace and skill so cut out the diving, referees will become aware of what you do and a genuine trip in the box could end up going against you. Work hard and your rewards will come.

Players get away with "stepping across" a lot - Including in the Everton win at Anfield last season when C-L stepped across Trent A-A and got a penalty. When I started playing footy in the late 1950s/early 60s - these events were considered obstruction by the player stepping across - that seems a much fairer assessment. If you jump across somebody running straight towards the ball whilst altering your previous line of travel and you get knocked down- it's your own fault.

The ones that annoy me are the obstructions when the attacker knocks the ball past the defender, who doesn’t move, then runs into him.

He's probably the worst cheat in the league right now, and I mean that in both senses - he does it most often and he's not very good at it.
Also interesting that he's English, brought up in England, been through his local academy and he cheats more than any fancy foreigner in the league. At least it puts to bed that myth now.

Has anyone used that myth for a long time?
As above Young was terrible at it, Kane and Sterling in the current England squad are two of the worst for it. Plenty of other English players as well.

They all do it because they often (usually?) get away with it. Until refs get tougher on divers/cheats (with cards) and it'll continue or even intensify. "Winning" penalties (as opposed to "being fouled") is openly lauded by the pundits.

I don't think either incidents were penalties but then the second one where he tangled with Matip, looked a lot like the one given against us when Westwood got across him. Admittedly, I haven't watched that back for comparison, just from memory.
Also, I know this thread is about Gordon but how did Richarlison not get sent off late on for kicking out with his studs up against Henderson's shin?!? A two game ban for violent conduct would have been a lovely finish to the weekend for us.

I thought that too, looked an obvious straight red to me. On the whole though, I do prefer a lighter touch reffing, but as it would have benefited us he should definitely have gone!

Everton still whining about the penalty they were denied, I find their complaining hilarious, and Lampard is walking a tightrope with his suggestion that Liverpool would have been awarded a pen for the same incident, isn't that close to questioning the integrity of the officials.

Joke isn’t it. They’ve gone and put in a formal complaint. Second time they’ve done that this season. It wasn’t even a pen for me, let alone a complete stone waller!

Pancho Villa aka Jimenez should have been booked for diving yesterday
The divers in the Premier league are legendary Wilf,Jack,Raheem, Jamie Vardy and now Gordon
The gutless refs need to stop bottling and book these cheats
