Rovers play-off fight……..

…….all but over after Sheffield United won last night. For those who feared that our Premier League place would be taken by that lot down the road, well, you can rest a bit easier now, due to our resurgence and their mediocrity. They have fluffed their lines once again and we live to fight on. UTC

Going to save my gloating until after this weekends set of results. If we win today and Everton and Leeds lose, I will be a lot more confident.

With all due respect I couldn’t care a flying fig about Rovers, I’m more interested in us obtaining enough points to stay up. This is not a dig at you by the way. I’m having sleepless nights at the moment.

I still accept that we could be playing them next year, hence my “live to fight on” comment. My point was that they won’t be taking our place.

I do care what happens to Rovers.
I want their fans to be miserable and have dashed hope.
I want us always to be above them, and always better than them so we can eventually squash them into the dirt.

It's like being back in the late '80's watching the Dollopers' annual fight against promotion. The semi final, second leg away at Palace was a classic.

Deluded dick heads.
Mowbray actually has done a good job there, despite what the majority of their fans think. They had been whingeing about Bournemouth born (but Luton fan) Keith Stroud being appointed referee for this weekend’s game against Bournemouth, saying it would effectively end their play off hopes and he’d be against t’Roverrrrrrs due to his Luton and Bournemouth connections.
He’s since been replaced but your team’s dreadful form ended your play off hopes a couple of weeks ago, chums.

Quite interesting chat last night with my M8 Kevin (Leeds) and a Newcastle Fan in our local last night ... Everyone agreed its time Everton did the decent thing and got relegated

Strange that Rovers have hit the buffers just when Burnley have rediscovered some form, and it's been glorious to witness their fall from grace again.
We win today, and Rovers lose, and it's unlikely we'll be meeting them next season, not in the league anyway.

Even if they draw today, they're out of it.
They can't catch Sheff U unless they win both remaining games.

Even if they do win their last 2 it's out of their hands, not impossible they could yet sneak in, but it would require a bizarre sequence of results.
And Bournemouth desperately need the points to keep Forest at bay for the 2nd auto spot.

Yeah, can't see the Cherries holding back today, hope they fill their boots.

Just a cautionary note.
Should they win today, they will have won two on the bounce and would probably only have to beat Birmingham next week to get above Sheff U on GD, since Sheff U are playing Fulham.
We would then have to rely on Middllesbrough winning both games.
I'm not celebrating anything yet.

Most might disagree. But I'd like them to get promoted if we stay up. I really enjoy beating them
Sheffield Utd still have Fulham to play on the final day, and Boro's form has dipped of late, so its not over yet by any means. If anything can happen in football, then the Championship is the place

I hope they win today for a few reasons;
1 - I'd prefer Forest to come up instead of Bournemouth
2 - it'd give Rovers hope going in to the last game, only to fall pathetically, gloriously short
3 - should they scrape in, the thought of Rovers getting all giddy about winning promotion only to be beaten at Wembley by Luton Town of all teams gives me a bit of a semi.

Well, yes.
But in spite of everything, including our own dodgy position, its still nice to check the results and see they've lost.

Never rule it out, remember how Preston snuck in on the last day with a bonkers goal swing, Cardiff losing by 6 or something like that. Wasn’t it the Coyle promotion season?

Venkys could fund a manager like Dyche and cherry pick a team capable of walking the Championship..and all out of the petty cash tin..
That they choose not too, and allow the club to remain in limbo indefinitely is a source of amusement to me.

I'd love Rovers to be leading Bournemouth 1-0 till injury time, then the Cherries equalise.
Then they're out of it.

A cracking day we take a giant step towards PL safety, and Rovers flop at home and see their PO hopes end.
Now if City and Chelsea can do the business it'll be a perfect weekend.

Once had the misfortune to bump into him in a pub in Blackburn. He's a very difficult man to like. ******.
I did have a Clarets shirt on, we were off to Deepdale in the days when the M65 ended in the middle of nowhere.

It still does end in the middle of nowhere. It is the most pointless stretch of road in the country.

Ah, you're probably referring to the Colne end?
At this point, the other end was somewhere on the outskirts of Blackburn.

The Preston end does too, to be fair. Sort of back end of Lostock Hall.
