Absolute Disgrace...........
Have just watched the Forest v Sheff Utd match, great game pitch invasion as per usual,(end of the season) then a moron targets Billy Sharp stood on the touch line and runs into him on purpose, he makes a beeline for Sharp and flattens him on to his back, it comes right out of the blue, the police need to get this nutter and prison time needs to be done, we may not like certain players but you dont do that, god knows what he would have done if utd had won, no comment from Forest yet ! like i said disgraceful, soon ran off once his attack was done, coward, and thug.

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
Sadly, it was inevitable, the way that pitch invasions, at this time of the season, are just accepted and expected.
I'm not sure how you stop it. Maybe docking points to offending teams for the start of the following season, but some would say that's unfair and extreme. Something needs to be done though.

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
One thing they could have done today was to announce that the last penalty had to be retaken because the goalkeeper was off his line. And then when it was impossible to restart, award the match to Sheffield United. That might teach them something!
More seriously, they could have started years ago (but as ever, the powers-that-be prefer to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that nothing is wrong) and order referees to stop the game if a single fan is over the wall and onto the playing area. It might not stop the pitch invasions, but it would slow them down, and it would stop the creeping invasions that make a farce of the end of so many games.

he needs to be sent to prison for the longest possible time and made an example of to the highest order. Front and back of every newspaper..........but instead you'll get Rooney v Vardyfidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 12:28 amSadly, it was inevitable, the way that pitch invasions, at this time of the season, are just accepted and expected.

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
Just seen the footage. I used to be of the opinion that pitch invasions should be a welcomed tradition to finish the last home match, especially if it ends in success.
Let the kiddiwinks run on, meet the players, let them runaround, do a few knee-slides and then come back for the lap of honour - no harm done. Turn a blind eye.
It’s my opinion now that they can’t happen at all. That could’ve been very serious. It’s not worth the risk.

I’d say to anyone, before you comment or try to defend (there’s always one on here) watch it, it’s actually shocking
Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
He should be banned from football permanently and sent to prison, it's shocking.
I'd also force Forest to play there opening three games next season behind closed doors apart from away fans.

Only just seen this, that is sickening and a totally unprovoked and cowardly attack.
Hope Sharp is ok and when the cretin who did it is identified and caught (as he surely will be eventually) he gets what's coming to him.

That is horrific. What a ****.
Sharp and some of the bench stood there looking for the rest of the players who haven't got in yet. Awful.
Any word on sharp yet? Hope he's OK

Wow have just seen that it’s a full on unprovoked assault.
The knobhead in question deserves some time at her majesty’s pleasure for that. No need what so ever.
Hopefully Billy Sharp is ok.

This is the bit where fans like that and the vast majority of fans are wired up differently
Most would just want to celebrate with the players on the pitch
One guy decides to celebrate by head butting one of the opposition players
Its absolutely mental and you'd hope he will be both inside for a while and banned for life

I ran on the day we beat QPR to go up. Encountered that big centre half - Clint Hill . I said well played he said congratulations. It was a nice moment. Then I got a selfie with Dave Jones
Also jumped on Dave Williams back running on at York. I think he was a little startled as I had come from the home end behind him. So I kissed him and all was well again

Always been a fan of an end of season pitch invasion but probably needs looking at again. With the amount of coked up idiots in a ground on occasions like this it’s just been waiting to happen. And old guy was injured in Luton end by a coin thrown from pitch at Huddersfield on Monday.

TBH I'm a bit worried about Sunday, if we win and results go for us with the history regarding Newcastle re the Turf pub a pich invasion could turn nasty.

Former player of Forest too.
Can’t even imagine one of ours would do that to Wood or Trippier on Sunday if we win. Got to stamp it out hard. People cannot feel threatened let alone be attacked while working.

I passed Clint Hill on the goal line as he was walking back to the tunnel, he put his hand out, I shook it, he patted me on the shoulder and said "Enjoy it, well done". Really added to the happy moment.Garnerssoap wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 7:29 amI ran on the day we beat QPR to go up. Encountered that big centre half - Clint Hill . Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
I've just seen the video. It's horrendous. I quite like the idea of a celebratory pitch invasion, when it's really justified (and I dont think winning a semi is justification). But incidents like that make me think that crossing the white line should be absolutely sacrosanct.
Prosecute to the max as far as I'm concerned. And football fans far and wide should join together in shaming this behaviour. We need to police ourselves better I think, and call out those behaviours that gave gone too far

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
I’ve never been a fan of pitch invasions, whatever the circumstance. To me it stops the players celebrating with the crowd as a whole rather than the few hundred on the pitch. However if people are determined to get on the pitch en masse then I’m not sure how you stop it.

Pitch invading at York and at Charlton are some of my more treasured memories of supporting us
To think that people pitch invade with the express idea of head butting an opposition player is just incompressible to me
How on earth can you think about that when you've just won a season defining football match?

The guy’s going to prison without a shadow of doubt , horrible assault ,entirely unprovoked . Not a fan of pitch invasions unless it’s literally a promotion , or last gasp survival like Orient or maybe Newcastle on Sun , when emotions simply overflow .

It's been building all season and this appears to be the final consequence of it. If we can't stop people getting onto the pitch then things are only going to get worse and worse.
I didn't see the incident but heard Paul Heckingbottom's interview when he said it was definitely going to be a prison sentence.

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
Firstly hope Billy Sharp is ok, a totally cowardly assault by a nasty piece of work, and he should be spending time inside no doubt.
Secondly it's idiots like this that raise the chances of a return to the 1980's and fans being penned in behind fences again, not what any sensible fans would desire, but the number of these incidents appear to be on the increase.
The guy at Rovers who run on and attacked Westwood, and the idiots at West Ham who continually stopped the match a few seasons ago, are just a couple that spring to mind involving Burnley, however we've got our own share of mindless numpties, and like others have mentioned I wonder what Sunday will bring win or lose.

Getting worse all the time, and just look at those disgraceful scenes in and around Wembley last year during a showcase final. Lucky that nobody was killed when the drunken, coked-up thugs stormed the stadium. There has to be a clampdown, or else in will be like the 80s when attendances hit rock bottom, only this time it will be worse because in todays world most clubs couldn't survive on those gates.

You are right, and Stan Ternent then ran on to confront him. A few fans came on and one threw a punch at Paul Cook so Stan went on to sort it and nearly landed himself with an FA charge.

Re: Absolute Disgrace...........
Agree with much of that, however I suspect PL clubs would survive as the behind closed games during the pandemic showed, they of course have the luxury of their lucrative TV deals to fall back upon if times are hard, it's the lower leagues which would really suffer if crowds dipped, or restrictions around attendances where put in place.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 11:24 amGetting worse all the time, and just look at those disgraceful scenes in and around Wembley last year during a showcase final. What the solution is I have no idea, but yes some deterrent needs to be put in place, and crucially acted upon when clubs can't control their own fans, this attack has to be a watershed moment, it's only through sheer luck that Billy Sharp didn't suffer more serious injuries thanks to this prick.
