Apparently decisions even themselves out over the course of a season, so...

We should get 8 penalties and finish the game with 17 Burnley players on the pitch on Sunday.

VAR was brought in to illuminate this. Because ALL decisions would now be correct.

They need to sort the dickheads who are in charge of it and who are on it. This is the worst lot of officials I've ever seen in the game. Seriously poor.

The two MOST ATROCIOUS decisions of the season were on view to all Sky Sport viewers tonight. Absolutely unbelievable how Burnley were not awarded a penalty for handball after the handball v Spurs against Ashley Barnes and the red card given to Matt Lawton for winning the ball was the most incompetent decision ever awarded by a VAR official

They are delivering the Prem League business requirements. Burnley does not feature in their desired future plans.

As long as humans are involved there will still be bias and corruption. The premier league isn’t about football it is about marketing, TV deals and sponsors. Not just in this country but around the world. Basically it is about money and only money. In this world the more money there is the more corrupt something becomes. Sport is no exception. If there is a chance to make money they will do it. If that means making sure the ‘correct results’ happen then so be it. The rich will always get richer somehow.
The only way for us to get a fair crack at it is to join them. We need to get taken over by some billionaire with questionable human rights, Burnley needs to get made a city and the club need to move to a plastic bowl next to the M65 near hapton as that is what the premier league (and more-so the steak-holders) wants it’s teams or ‘partner clubs’ to be like. That would then make the club marketable in the merging markets and would appease the premier league steak-holders as it would make them ever richer.
That is what football is about in 2022 and it is only set to get worse. More European games, more countries in the world cup, world cups ever two years etc. They don’t make these changes for the good of the sport and sporting competition. VAR does it job. It is a second layer of protection to make sure what is meant to happen does happen. Everyone knows but who is going to stop it? The government or media won’t as they are making probably the bulk of the money out of it! Ergghhhh. Might have to start watching water polo or something less sleazy and obviously corrupt.

Matt Lowton won the ball. No studs raised. Impossible not to make contact with Chambers who went down with clearly a serious injury. Red card shown. Chambers gets up and walks away. Not even a free kick in my opinion. Certainly not a yellow card let alone red. Please appeal the decision. It was maybe the worst VAR ever

It should be reviewed but doubt they will change it because that would be admitting that VAR was wrong
And I would be amazed if that happened

The use of VAR was always designed to justify the appalling decisions that some of the useless refs make. Now perhaps people can see its not Paranoid Burnley bleating about everyone hating us.This game was taking Anti Burnley to a whole new level and why did Sky keep interrupting our game with shots of Scallies invading the pitch ?
Oh I forgot Media Darling Frankie manages Everton.

I've been saying it since it came in, VAR is good for the game, it's the idiots who misuse it that need going.
The only consistency in refereeing is that they are all crap. The game in this country won't improve until they throw them all out and start again. Hire the best the world has to offer, and get the FA to start a programme to train the next generation.

I think you are misjudging the purpose of VAR to the Prem League, Colburn.

The officials are delivering perfectly, for the product..

When they defend the indefensible, they just make themselves, and the game look silly. I'm sure it suits some peoples purpose, but at what expense to credibility.

I've never subscribed to this notion because "the one back" you might get could come at a time when your team is trailing 3-0 so hardly use or ornament

Not just VAR but the overall officiating was appalling last night.

- Persistent fouling by AV overlooked but every slight nudge given against us.
- Penalty not given for more of a handball offence than the one given against Barnes for Spurs.
- Player allowed to act injured then gallop into attack without any comment. That used to be considered as ungentlemanly conduct.
- AV twice incorrectly given corners instead of goal kicks.
- Completely obvious foul throw overlooked.
- Straight red for what was at worse a yellow card.
- No card for reckless elbow by Barnes. Clear retaliation by Mings on Barnes ignored.

Appalling!!!

Bloody hell, Ian.

If you’ve not got another record, at least give us a listen to the B side!

It’ll be a massive positive if we’re in the Championship next season that I don’t need to suffer it and can celebrate a goal after a quick glimpse at the linesman. I’m absolutely sick of it.

That's the problem with truth, DCWat. There is just the one version!

Surely, you will agree that the prem must grow its business and protect its brand, as best it is able, with the tools at its disposal?

I wholly agree that the Premier League would wish to grow and protect its brand, but I certainly don’t subscribe to the view that to do this they are engineering outcomes.

If the day ever came that I thought that football was fixed and that outcomes were predetermined, that would be me done.

Do you seriously think that decisions have been made somewhere between the FA, referees, TV companies and whoever else to engineer Everton’s survival?

Personally, I don’t think that the Premier League would have been any worse off for seeing a team like Everton relegated. In fact, I think shocks such as that make the league even more appealing.

To see Everton’s survival as some sort of conspiracy is just bonkers. If I had your view on football, I don’t think there’d be a point in watching it. Why even bother with tomorrow if the outcome has been predetermined?

According to this post we have.

I agree - I think it should definitely be appealed. Awful decision.

Not predetermined DCWat. 'Preferred outcomes'. Subtle or not so subtle, in some cases, bias.

Everton are one of the founder (instigators) clubs of the prem. They are part of the inner circle. Very much 'preferred' for many reasons.

Over a season, there is enough to ensure a number of desired outcomes could happen.

There is also a bias towards or against the top teams, to ensure, where possible, a very close contest. Some of the VAR millimetre decisions against Man City has shown that.

Still things can happen, just because a team can out gun the 'anti' decisions.

If ever there was an instance of the incompetence of those officials on VAR, it was today

Why on earth did they ask Pawson to review the handball incident?

As opposed to just telling him it was a penalty, you mean?

There was no doubt it was a penalty
