The beacons in celebration of the jubilee are to be lit over the country tonight. Does anyone know where the nearest one is to Burnley. Looked on Burnley Express website, can’t find any information. Thanks

They appear to have lost the principle of beacons.
Some of these are so low-level they won't be seen anywhere else. The whole point was to create a chain where one could be seen by the next and so on.

Seems to be a lot of them, but strangely not one on Beacon Fell.

There's no beacon lit near me at Beamsley Beacon.
The clue's in the title.

Just back from Cliviger, beacon on Thieveley Pike. Pretty impressive.

I think there's something flickering on top of Pendle Hill, but I'm looking over the top of much of Colne to see it so it could be a dodgy street light much nearer.

Is that image generated? I can see 2 faces ( on being Batman) and a pair of spectacles- and no, I haven’t being celebrating and had one too many. Can make out more creatures when you stare at the flames long enough.

Having seen the one in Poppleton on the news this morning, I am concerned that my barbeque may have been misconstrued as royalist support.

Is it still there?
I presume it's just the angle / perspective, but that looks like one of Fred Dibnah's chimney drops!

No, it’s a good point. The village idiot owns the land that the tower is on and won’t let anyone use it. That meant that the real beacon couldn’t be used, however the very kind farmer with the field next to the tower allowed the village to light a beacon as close as possible.
