Players will always come and go that's the nature of the business. We can only speculate as to what goes on behind the scenes. Players have jumped ship before, thinking the grass is greener, sometimes it is but sometimes it definatly isn't. Just ask Andre Gray,Jason Shackel and Jeff Hendrick

the guy with the business degree and with an exceptional playing career behind him understands it, is fully on board with it and clearly has an appetite for it. That's all you need to know, use your energy for supporting the lads, it'll do you good.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I am sure the club is desperate for this to progress. The sad thing for me, is that whilst Dwight has had two indifferent seasons recently, I was looking forward to see him play in the Championship. In the PL he was up against some of the worlds best defenders, and often double marked, plus he was expected to defend at all times.Having said that his brilliant performances were often v the top teams like Liverpool, Man Utd

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
You want to build a team round a player that twists himself in to the ground because he can't use his right foot, sored ZERO goals last year and created ONE assist in the season. That would be a very exciting player to build a team round. Everton fans will be on his back as soon as he loses the ball because he won't use his right foot. You only need to see this from the friendly against Wolves when he lost the ball because he wouldn't use his right foot and we conceded.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 1:54 pmMcNeil is a player we should have been building a team around long term but we did the opposite, for various reasons, didnt build a team and relied far too heavily on him as our only creative outlet.
If the fee is £20m then that has to be a good deal for someone who is so one footed and scored zero goals and one assist last year.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think the model going forward will be everyone is for sale always, sell at peak for profit, replace and move on.
Instead of doing what we have done with Tarks for example, we could have got £25/30m 2 years ago but kept him “because we would go down without him” but then we went down anyway and he walked for free.
Totally take the sentiment out of it. It’s the model City employ, every player is for sale for X amount and they leave and replace them (of course it’s not quite the same, just the principle is)
Apologies for the financial discussion

It's a gamble on McNeil being any good this season in the championship, he's got no proven experience in the championship a flip to when we sign someone from a lower league and from abroad and they say the same

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Just give him more time, it's only 2 years since he started negotiations and 18 months since he took over. Ignore that all our problems started 2 years ago and give him more time. Brian Laws had 2 weeks of a transfer window after Coyle took all the new signings and staff, then had 2 players hobbled the minute we played Coyle, but was at the helm of relegation, a middling start to the next season, and got sacked in under a year. Maybe he needed more time, who knows he could have rallied us and bounced back immediately.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 1:01 pmIf both these go, Pace will go down as Burnley's worst owner.
Relegation
Academy downgraded
Any player worth a carrot sold
Club loaded with more debt than it's ever been in it's entire history combined.
FWIW we all knew we'd probably lose McNeil and Cornet. Doesn't make it any less disappointing, and I can't help but think if we could have hung onto Dwight for this window to reignite his form at this level in the new setup, then we'd get a better fee for him even if we sold in January. Would be worth the wages for me and less of a gamble than selling and banking on a replacement.
You have to hope that the fees are reinvested in the squad, and seriously, on 2-3 quality players to really keep us in contention, rather than frittered across 6-8 prospects in the hope one of them turns a profit on a £2-3m signing.
And at this point, we really cannot afford to start losing Brownhill, Taylor, Roberts, or Lowton (regardless of age). We need some proven quality & experience at the level above/top of this level.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
If we get £20m and buy O’Hare for £10m I’d take that. Hard to criticise Dwight when he has been shoehorned into being a defensive winger which he isn’t.1HappyClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 3:18 pmYou want to build a team round a player that twists himself in to the ground because he can't use his right foot, sored ZERO goals last year and created ONE assist in the season. Strange move really as I don’t think he improves Everton much, it’s big money for them and they are tipped to struggle by many, but hey ho.
One things for sure - The more players we sell it’s going to get harder to recruit - we can’t plead poverty anymore we are going to get quoted big money more and more.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Who knows. Someone a few pages ago suggested, with some confidence, that Roberts was also leaving the club.
They could know something, or they could be another attention seeker. We've certainly got a few on here from far and wide.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
When Pace first came, didn't he say ALK were looking to buy a small club outside the PL.. and help them grow globally and get into the PL after a few years.
But with Burnley they found a small club that was already in the PL, and it was a bonus for us and them.
Looks like he wants to take us to where his original plan was, a small established Championship side that he can turn into a promotion pushing team after a few years.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
It doesn't make sense, when they pulled out of Max at 17.5mill.
Out of the 2 I'd rather have Max, and definitely think he's worth more than Dwight . 20mill for Dwight is a fair price, but I doubt Everton can afford that, so something doesn't add up.
