I went to the game last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. :)
Crowd of over 68,00, really noisy at times.
England played alright, could have had another goal or two, but could have conceded one, so some room for improvement.
For fear of being accused of being "woke", it was a great experience for my daughter who plays u15s football next season, to see England play and a crowd with so many girls and women in the stadium.
The pre match show was decent too, and I got a bit emotional thinking about it all: whether it was the fact that my daughter was with me, or it was my first major sports event post pandemic or what.
Sad that some people seem to want to decry such a major event happening in this country, really. :x
We're off to several more games, including the final at Wembley, and can't wait! :P

Completely agree whentheballmoves. We have a 4 year old daughter and to share the major tournament experience with her was amazing - she especially loved the pre match show. The atmosphere was incredible in its own way and if we can get to the final it will be a big moment for football in this country.

I think it's a bit weird so many posters opened a thread called 'Womens Euros 2022' just to mention how much they aren't interested in the Womens Euros 2022.

I find it stranger people pretending that the standard is any good.

It’s nothing like watching women tennis/gymnastics/athletics/skiing efc it’s just clearly a way inferior product

Think folk are having themselves on a bit.

It’s not watching a local girls team have a kick about, we’re talking 68K problem rocked uk to watch a very poor game of football - I find that quite baffling

Or, nireland are poor. The second goal created by some rubbish playing out from the back. Not sure why you'd do that against a side miles quicker in thought than you.

The first goal was just appalling marking.

That said, there are a lot of better moves that haven't resulted in goals.

And yet we're all watching Burnley rather than Barcelona.

Yeah less than 3 months ago we were performing against some of the world's best week in week out.

Just like I would skip a thread about squash, horse racing or Wimbledon, I would suggest those of you miserable old men who have no interest in womens football to do the same here.

Am I right in recalling that Alan Pace said he fell in love with football (soccer) from watching Barcelona when he was studying there for his MBA?

But we won't be next season and I assume you'll still be watching. For me, I've watched a lot more poor Burnley than top quality Burnley.

You cannot possibly have watched that game and thought the standard was anything other than good. They played brilliantly.

Just reading the comments on this page it soon became clear that the 3 posters who seem most passionate and enthusiastic about women's football mention that they have young daughters and/or nieces that they watched the games and enjoyed the experience with. If that were not the case I am sure that they probably would not be so enthralled by the Women's Euros. Since it was England hosting the tournament I felt that I should at least give the opening game a try and lasted about 15 minutes.

Didn't watch the game last night as I fully expected Norway to run out comfortable winners, I'm glad NI did at least grab a consolation gaol though.

England u19 men win the euros, and none of the games on TV, yet they put the women's all over BBC 1 every night. What's going on!!!!

I’m really enjoying watching it. Going to have a look to see if I can make any fixtures in the coming weeks.

Germany look like they’re playing with the cheat codes on against a Denmark side who are no pushovers!

The same reason they don't put England U19's women on TV.

The BBC is sandal wearing pathetic, but not for pushing the England team in the Women's European Championships in England.

The Women's World Cup Semi Final between England and USA in 2019 had 11.7million viewers.

The Wimbledon Men's Singles Final had 9.6m viewers.

It's on the BBC because people watch it.

I bet if you went back to the dozens of womens football threads on here over the years you’d find the same characters taking time out of their days to tell us how **** it is. Bit more going on than just a sport they don’t like if you ask me.

Fair play though. Don’t think there’s a “rammed down our throats” comment this time, so I assume they’ve realised how many TV channels and media options they have access to in 2022.

Italy resorting to some " traditional " Italian style defending in the 2nd half ... the referee has for some bizarre reason, overturned her initial red card and given a yellow to the Italian Captain for a challenge that wouldn't have been out of place in the Italy-Chile game in the 1962 World Cup !!

It’s a good standard, but there is a naivety to the game. It’s probably purer as a game, with less cynicism… it’s more like watching good level youth football.

The mere fact that the England ladies are up by 6 goals at half time shows how amateur it is.

This is not good for the sport - it is absolutely miles away from what people think it is

Yes England are far superior to Norway.
Norway will improve by playing more international matches.
England can only play and win matches against who is put in front of them .

Some of you are judging this on what the standard was 5 years ago......

Some of these women are technically very very good footballers! Yes due to physicality it will always be inferior to the mens game but the passing and crossing has been spot on, particularly in this first half
