Padiham v Burnley - Updates

Post by ClaretTony » Tue Jul 12, 2022 7:30 pm

I’ll post any goal updates.

No team sheets so don’t know who the players are. The only two I’ve recognised are Tony Philliskirk & Ross Wallace.

The Burnley number 4 looks good, smallest player on the pitch but good feet and gets stuck in.

What’s his name ?

0-0 at half time. Played some decent stuff in the first half and had the best chances.

To add to the confusion, it looks as though we are making eleven changes for the second half.

We think the number 4 is possibly Callum West, the lad signed from Macclesfield.

Long delay early in second half. Player injured in corner, can’t see what happened or who it is. It’s a Padiham player.

The injured player has just been taken out on a stretcher and we’ve just restarted.

Spoke to someone from Padiham on the way out who said he banged his head on the advertising hoarding and is in hospital with concussion but he’s ok and talking.

Good news.

Game we should have won - had plenty of opportunities but only took one and then conceded two late goals.

Only player I recognised was Charlie Casper who was in goal for Padiham - impossible to write a report.

Feel sorry for the hoarding if he was a Padihamer

What a save by the Padiham keeper early in the first half from close range, was that Charlie Casper Tony ?

I’ll say it again really really impressed with the number 4, he looked class. Hopefully he gains a few extra inches he must only be about 5ft 3/4ish ??

I’m not sure whether Padiham made a change or not at half time but Casper was in goal for the second half. There was one stunning save in the first half though.

The number four really was tiny in height but I thought he stood out in that first half.

Not fair to judge players on one or two appearances one way or the other. In the last two seasons (either side of the behind closed doors season) I’ve seen players stand out in FA Youth Cup ties and have people excited on here about their potential, yet for both it was, from what I saw, almost a one off performance.

Update on Jack Gooden. Jack was taken to hospital last and has bad concussion and will now rest for a few weeks. Many thanks to @ClaretsAcademy Medical team who were amazing, as was our physio @MeganEastwood. Thanks to everyone for showing their concern. UTS

Someone posted last night that it was concussion - that's bad enough but thank goodness it wasn't any worse.

It's common courtesy but it is so lacking these days. But good to know they were of such help.

His Mum, Dad & uncle sat infront of me, Stoke fans. I was talking to someone about the Collins deal and Jacks uncle turned round and told me about the % Stoke got from the deal.

Padiham don't have a youth team as such. They have all the young ages, then a community team, then the first team.
That level of football seems to be players just moving clubs for 50 quid a game, rather than a youth or reserve team to provide players.

Very much their first team. Good challenge for the young lads, many of them just 16, to play against experienced players.

The Padiham centre half was Ben Hoskin Tony if you didn’t know ? Ex youth team player for us and nephew of Ash.

The right back who come on in the first half used to play for Stockport.

Josh Brownhills brother was number 9.

Very much Padihams first team and a good test for the young clarets.

I knew Brownhill was their number 9 and I should have recognised Ben, I’ve seen him play often enough.
