Strike announced for 20th August.
Good job Blackpool will only bring around 2k unlike the match where up to 10k turned up and were in every end in the 90s (or so the myth goes)

Isn't that Northern Rail, they don't appear to be on strike that day?

Hold off booking for now, but there's plenty of time for a deal to be reached between the TOCs and the Unions so, fingers crossed.

They'll have to use their supporters club official transport instead.

Not good for me either. Usually I come up on train, less hassle and can have a beer or five.
Going to have to get the motorbike out for this one. I do feel sorry for those train drivers though, it must be hard to make ends meet on £55k +

Wouldn’t hold your breath when the DfT are involved. Let’s hope they do the right thing soon.

..when all they do is go and brake. Lazy winkers don’t even steer.
We had a great meme over here when the tram drivers were on strike. Their training course was an apple on a table, push apple forward=go, pull apple back=stop.
Found it.

Bearing in mind that RMT do not represent the drivers. RMT represent the low earners like gate staff, cleaners etc so the derogatory comments are way off. They haven’t had a pay rise for 3 years despite working on the frontline throughout the pandemic. Some are really struggling to get by.

We all want more money however when we get more we have to.pass costs on,so if we want to pay more for train tickets so be it.

They put prices up by 10% and are still not giving staff a pay rise.

Bumping this since it seems unlikely the strike will be off. Looks like while some areas will have trains, there is nothing between Leeds-Burnley.
Anyone going that way on Saturday with room in the car?

Normally get the train from Halifax and takes 30 minutes, now more than likely will be stuck on the bus for an hour and 45 minutes each way.

I was a kid when they turned up on mass for that match. They had free coaches, if my memory serves me well. The talk in the Cricketfield stand was that some of their idiots had robbed the Longside away end turnstiles.

I thought it was the CF stand turnstiles they kicked in and robbed, to gain entrance to the ground?

I can do a detour on the way up from MK if anyone wants picking up on the way up and dropping off after. Thing is, I’ll be aiming to get into Burnley for about 11am so I can take my daughter for lunch before she goes to work
I’ll be heading straight home after the game too

I remember the match mid 90’s? maybe ? when Oyston put free coaches on for them , they only brought about 3k ish though , I think was about 18k on that day. Don’t remember any trouble though considering the amount of aggro we had in the 90’s.

Think pay is a minor issue,it’s the working hours, shift changes, weekend hours etc I applaud them for standing up for themselves. They give plenty of notice for the strike dates so people need to be aware and support them

We played them quite a few times in the 90s.
The big following with trouble was early 90s.

I remember some trouble in the CF stand. Would have been 90-91 season I think - a Tuesday night. Maybe wrong but a 2-0 or 2-1 victory with Futcher getting one goal.

I dont think there was much trouble in the early 90's because in the lower divisions back then Blackpool was widely know as one of the footy mobs that the home teams didn't dare take on and that would have definitely included Burnley.
I think Blackpool used to pretty much come into town, decide what pubs they wanted and the Burnley mob then would stay well clear of them. Rochdale, Halifax and Stockport was more our level for scrapping in those days

That's a surprise given it'll be their 1st visit to TM in nearly 10 years you'd have thought they'd have been right up for this derby.
