England vs Germany Euro’s Final

Post by jos » Wed Jul 27, 2022 9:56 pm

At Wembley on Sunday…. Should be a good contest. I’ve been impressed with how the Womens game has improved at an international level.

Come on England.

Set up for a classic game.

I think we've got more than enough to beat them if we play as we have been doing. It's going to be tough but we can do it.

COME ON LIONESSES!!!!

What's happening with the kit clash ?
England to play in Red, and win 4-2 after extra time ?

Unlike the mens team who for some reason wear an awful blue 2nd kit the womens do have a red - or in the ballpark of red, 2nd kit. Germany if necessary would be in their usual green 2nd kit . :geek:

Looking forward to it. Come on England!

The men and women wear the same kit. The red (orange) away kit is the new men’s kit too.

They just haven’t done so yet for some reason, but you can buy it in men’s sizes.

I bet they never mention 1966 at any time during the build up or during the game.

Isn't it funny ... not a few weeks ago the mere mention of Womens Football on here drew hoots of derision from all quarters ...

Its ****
I wouldn't watch that **** the quality is ****

All of a sudden its seen as the best thing since sliced bread ... only on UTC can we see such a turnaround in opinions ...

I hope we do the Jeermans on Sunday or there will be a meltdown of humongous proportions

I know it shouldn’t bother me but turning a two syllable word into three is slightly annoying.

I hope you have a good time, online ticket touts are making a mint.

Good to see they are enforcing a no drinking law on Wembley Way on Sunday to avoid any trouble :D

I'm dreading the full 1966 regurgitation (complete with (present-day) Geoff Hurst interview etc). Not that I didnt enjoy that victory at the time but it's been pored over so much in the interim I cant take any more.

Still- I've put a bet on England to win after extra time (@ 10/1). ;)

How much they going for out of interest/asking for a friend lol. Breaking your daughters hearts can be compensated for with ice cream and 2 weeks in Marbella. Just kidding. No I’m not. Yes I am. How much?

Why do you think that is boss?

Because the quality at international level has improved significantly in the last few years possibly?

Because the women actually show heart and desire to go on and win a game when they are behind? Let’s be reyt here, the men under GS would have settled for a 0-1 defeat v the Spaniards.

Because cheating and diving and feigning injury hasn’t quite made it into the womens game like it has EVERYWHERE else? It’s there, but it’s not embarrassing to see yet.

Because people actually WANT something to get behind, support, believe in and enjoy, especially after a really bad few years in the doldrums?

I don’t think it matters WHY people have begun to embrace it, just that they finally have. Your post makes it sound like you think it’s a character flaw that people have changed their minds and joined in.

This turnaround of opinions is countrywide. The lionesses have created that. Even I am on board (at international level) and I was always a staunch non believer.

I know you’re not having a pop (at least I don’t THINK you are) but the product has changed and this peoples attitude towards it does. That’s not a solely Burnley thing, that’s everywhere in every walk of life.

I join you in the sincere hope they pull it off.

Don’t mind White heading for goal but the better ball was square to give Mead an open goal.

If she has got the gig because she’s the best that is left then great. Or has she got a sympathy vote? Which whilst I like that idea from a “F*** off Russia” perspective, it isn’t good for the match.

I've no idea, but I'd like to think it's the former rather than the latter, my knowledge of female refs is slim to none, so I can't really offer any info either way.
