Maatsons lucky goal
Just in the club now and a few are saying it was deflected off a Huddersfield players toe which spun it over the defender and into the corner.
Was that the case? I don’t remember seeing it that way.

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
From one angle it looked like it may have taken a nick off a defender but to be honest, I couldn't care less.
Probably more lucky that it fell perfectly for him after Ash tripped over the ball

They all count, and maybe it's a sign Kompany is a lucky manager, mind you it could hardly be argued we didn't deserve the victory could it, we bossed pretty much the entire game.

Looked guided accurately, to me.

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
The lengths I see people go to to pick holes in what must be the most impressive, fluid performance that I can recall from a Burnley team are astounding. We’ve been reading over the weekend that Huddersfield were so poor that they made us look good. And now our goal was ‘lucky’.
The mind boggles. Can we not just enjoy it??

Was it the Horse Fanciers Social Club in Blackburn you were in?Grandpa Claret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 10:52 amJust in the club now and a few are saying it was deflected off a Huddersfield players toe which spun it over the defender and into the corner.

Wonderful to have a LB that can smash a ball with his right foot without thinking about it.

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
What’s lucky about a shot that was on target and went in?
If his shot was heading to the corner flag and deflected off somebody that would be lucky

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
It takes a slight deflection but it was goalbound anyway.
If it hadn't gone in, we'd have found another way to win that game, we were so far ahead of them.

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
It was only lucky in so much as Barnes really should have done better and would have been almost certainly scoring, but he messed up and fortunately Maatsen was there to bail him out.

Barnes's dummy was nice /clever though, first thing my Everton supporting mate commented on this morning, plus how good we looked generally.

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
Only luck I saw on Friday was how Huddersfield were lucky not to concede a penalty and that our strikers didn’t have their shooting boots on.

One also said he agreed it wasn't and should have been a penalty! I didn't want to mention that. Having watched it several times now, its nothing but a penalty.
He also added, it was a penalty in the premier league but not in the championship. He is a Burnley fan and season ticket holder. Talk about a frustrating conversation.

Why spell somebody’s name wrongly? We’re going down the Hutchinson, Woods route here

Re: Maatsons lucky goal
I thought it deflected, thing is, doesn't matter if he smacked it in from 70 yards or it went in off his backside from a yard - goal is a goal
