On sky tonight, a good chance weigh up the opposition.

Watford’s current front 3 is very, very good for this league. Could do with them losing Dennis and Sarr…

Like you say, good players, will be surprised if they are still at Watford come the end of the month.

That United line up looks very solid for this level
They have the managerial edge on experience and for all the quality of Watford's front three their problems were at the other end last season. I didn't see much of them but whenever I did Bachmann was very poor

The front line of Sheffield is poor and they lack pace and creativity in midfield. Not promotion material for me.

Absolutely, I don't see Watford freezing out Sarr and Dennis to ''protect the sale'', a sale that is nowhere near being agreed.

There is also the thought that maybe Max doesn't want to play or that he may not have 100% commitment if his mind is elsewhere which would not be beneficial to either himself or us.

Just flicked it on for a minute and both keepers have already launched it forward.
What sort of football is this?

Pretty poor game so far. More like an end of season fixture, not much atmosphere.

If the FK in added time, following a SheffU corner was for a foul on the keeper it’s a shocking decision. The forward just stood his ground, any contact if any was initiated by the keeper.

Thought it was a decent half. Both teams look quite good. Dennis and Sarr a big threat.

Bit of a stalemate although Watfords front 3 do look quality. Still nothing to fear IMO

Sheff Utd don’t have anywhere near enough goals in their squad to threaten promotion…in my opinion.

Nothing to sweat on there. Watfords lauded attack created nothing and made a breakaway count. Blades midfield was less than the names in it, again creating nothing.

Has he refused to play or are ALK bothered he picks up an injury? We don’t know what’s going on. VK has already intimated he’ll be involved next match if still with us.

Hope that’s right as think we’d have had another goal or two if he’d played against Hudds.

Both were crap.
Now I am not thinking one swallow makes a summer. But all teams appear to be taking the same path. And us another, time will tell if it will work for us. But I think the Huddersfield game is colouring my judgement.

To be fair after talking to an ex claret player today, which I completely agree with. Once you have played a few games other managers will develop strategies to deal with us.
Those three games will give them the data, experience to come up with strategies.
Once that happens we will see what Konpany has in his locker to deal with it with his players and strategy.

Not sure what you mean, most championship teams are so predictable, as we were under SD.
Let’s see how we go.
I just felt the more Huddersfield pressed the quicker we passed the ball and frustrated them.

So your saying we will change our style of play, don’t think so.
We just bought a load of players a foot smaller than championship teams players.
We are committed to VK style and after watching the first game it might just work.

no, i'm saying Kompany will come up with strategies to beat them, I never mentioned anything about playing style

Watford looked the stronger. Sheffield U did not appear to have many goals in them. Only 45 games to prove me wrong.

It’s only a good idea playing them if the intention is to keep them. If it’s a shop window job your manager has to quickly adapt to be without them on 1 Sept.
I’m happy with Kompany’s Cornet approach. If he doesn’t think he’ll be here next month, it makes sense to work with the players who will.

This was a pretty good Championship game between to well organised physically strong and energetic teams.
Watford of course were the more dangerous and broke quickly - can we deal with that? Their defence looks a bit dodgy though and temperamental - Barnes vs Sierralta will be interesting!
Sheffield United looked mostly solid but were troubled by the pace and strength of Watford's attack. The only obvious threat in their attack was Ndiaye (who was signed from Borehamwood a couple of years ago).

Teams have been looking for a strategy to beat City, and they've been watching them for years. It doesn't matter what the opposition do, IF we play and improve on how we played at Huddersfield.
Not getting carried away, we are still short a striker, and Huddersfield weren't physical at all. There will be harder games to come, even if nobody had seen us play, but it was a great first step.
