I thought he would fit in well based on how we played on Friday night, but sounds like not too much interest in him staying from either side.

A signing that didn't work out at all, but good luck to the lad.

The lads gonna run out of battery. Needs plug in or at least turn the brightness down.

Huge shame because he had more to give but we cannot afford to pay prem wages.

VK alluded that Vydra was now on a different path in his pre match press conference

Shame but who knows how long he’d take to get fully fit this season. Tough one for the club given his age too. Seems like we made an offer but it wasn’t acceptable for him. A fully fit Vyds would have done well in this new set up.

We never got the best out of him, when we did he was good.
Wish him well.

Yes, best of luck to him.
Don't think the previous manager fancied him, scored a few good goals, in particular the one at Southampton.

A lot of times though , he flattered to deceive for me.
So it's mixed feelings for me, because as said above, there may have been more to come from him.

Does that mean our obligation to continue paying him has now ended? In effect, that frees up a wage.

Very best wishes to him. Nobody could argue that he didn't give his all. A shame he never quite got a run that he might have deserved. I don't think he fits this new system. I don't think his footwork is in keeping with what VK appears to be after.

A shame. I liked him. All good things come to an end.

Why shouldn't he maximise his earnings while he still can? The rest of the working population does.

Surely we stopped paying him when he was OOC?
Although i don't know when that was.

A player that we grossly under used. His movement was on a different level and I think he would have flourished with the likes of Cullen and the new tactics.

“Negotiations were minimal”. Justifiably. Yes, I know he scored goals in the Championship, seven years ago or whatever. No guarantee. Never even looked remotely like a regular PL goalscorer. Unfortunately another signing we got little value from. Flattered to deceive ? Absolutely.

Bit part player for the duration of his stay with us. Even with the advances in repairing knees, there’s no guarantee he’d make a full recovery. Throw in that’s he’s the wrong side of 30 and probably wouldn’t have been fully fit until after Christmas, I can’t say I’m overly disappointed.

All the best to him of course. Hope he does make a full recovery and has a successful finish last 4-5 years of his career.

Strongly disagree - in the brief moments he was given to shine, he scored goals. If he'd played the same minutes Wood did, I'd bet my house Vydra would score (and definitely assist + create) more.

He was one of those players who got better and more praise the less he played.

Thought he was distinctly average for us overall

I agree with his statement. He did give it his all. Can't ask for more.

Agreed. There was always a footballer in there that never really got a fair shot. But unfortunately I’ll only ever really remember him for the ones he missed. Good luck to him.

He could have ended his career against Watford - Michael Jackson said he injured his knee in the first 10-15 minutes. He played the whole game and got the match winning assist. Deserves praise just for that.

I think part of the fascination with him was that he was so different to our other options. He did miss some massive chances, but he never really got a decent run in the side unfortunately

Good player who sadly was underused. He has not been feeling it for a while, nothing to do with the new guard at the club, both ownership and management, this decision was made long ago. Only way he would have stayed was a fantastic offer, sadly not having played much under the previous management he was unable to prove he was worth fighting for to keep.

Good luck Vyds

Hope Vyds finds a club, but given the direction we're now going in with young hungry players, he was never likely to fit into Kompany's model.

And if we made him an offer, which he choose not to accept, then fine he moves on with my best wishes, but his scoring record didn't justify pushing out the boat to retain him.

Plus as others have mentioned how do we know he'll be the same player post injury.

I’m a Vydra fan but to be honest I’m surprised the club made him an offer before knowing whether he’d make a full recovery and get back up to full speed.

Massively underused. His treatment under the previous regime was poor imho. Far better player than he was given credit for. If he was given the same leeway that Wood was given when he wasn't scoring (or contributing owt else) we may well be seeing different comments on here.
There was a period when alongside Wood we looked a real handful up top, Vydra's mobility and movement causing all sorts of problems, but at the first opportunity, he was dropped so we could go with type. An attitude that ultimately cost us our place at the top table.

Good luck to him, hope his recovery goes well.

Probably best all round to be honest

Genuinely think if he'd stayed fit for those last few games we wouldn't have gone down, but overall his four years have been a bit meh, and its best to part ways

His football was great, but his finishing was very poor, surprising considering his pre Burnley form.
I agree SDs style didn't suit him, but he missed some sitters.

I hope he lands on his feet, and wish him good luck.

I really thought he could get his mojo back under VK and the new style would suit him. So sad to see him go but good luck to him and his family.
I'll always remember that wonderful goal at St Marys :)

If he didn't sign a new deal you can be absolutely cast iron assured that there will be a better one on the table for him elsewhere.

No gamble involved.

97 appearances in all competitions with 12 goals.
Most of his appearances were as a sub...

Underused but that's how it goes at times.

Good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

This is the player we bought in August 2018 (from Wikipedia)...

"In April 2018, he was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year[38] and also in the EFL Championship Team Of The Year.[39] He scored 22 goals in all competitions and received the Sky Bet Championship Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals in the Championship during the 2017–18 season.[36] On 1 May, Vydra won 3 awards at the club's end of season awards ceremony winning the Player Of The Year, Players Player Of The Year and the Jack Stamps Player Of The year awards."

And yet some of you still believe he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. Unbelievable.

I don't think Vydra was at fault for his underwhelming Burnley career, and I certainly hope he has changed agent since that move to us.

Matej, I wish you all the best.
